Have been here a couple of times before. Not a traditional 'chippy' but sells a good range of wet fish. My wife and I had 2 cups of the smoked fish chowder which was very tasty and had plenty of smoked haddock. I also had a crab sandwich which was again very nice with mainly brown meat in thick bro

I popped down with my wife and we both had a prawn sandwich in some locally baked bread. The sandwiches were absolutely superb. There was also a great choice of crisps, drinks and cakes to accompany them.
What a wonderful find! Had an amazing Vienna roll filled with hot smoked salmon, prawns and crayfish! Delicious! Husband had a smoked fish pasty that he enjoyed. It is self-service, so there is not much point in rating service. The service in making the food was good and speedy so it was easy to order and eat quickly. Very tasty, fresh seafood, which is an absolute treat and well worth the visit. Great to sit out in the sun and enjoy local produce.
We had garlic king prawns with fries, and chowder. Both were lovely, the fish was nice and fresh. We sat outside; it feels a bit like you're sitting in the car park, but this can't be helped. Overall we enjoyed our meals.
We regularly visit Latimers from Teesside, because their seafood is outstanding. They have lovely staff, fresh fish and usually unmatched sandwiches.
I firstly want to say the above still stands, however the past couple of visits have been a bit of a disappointment.

Absolutely brilliant place, set on the sea front of Whitburn. Freshly prepared seafood, including dressed lobster and crabmeat. You can buy chowder/ crab and prawn sandwiches at the 'window', as well as hot and cold drinks....assorted fresh fayre. Inside the deli, Aladdin's cave springs to mind... i
Great place for fresh fish, great selection available and if uncertain just ask the staff they'll happily help. Cafe has a variety of fish offerings from crab sandwiches to fish chowder.
They are only doing takeaway at the moment. But it elevates the concept of takeaway to another level. Absolutely delicious and totally special. We got the dressed crab box . It wasn't cheap but it was great value. Two dressed crab, six large prawns, two trays of prawns, smoked mackerel, stottie
Wonderful fish and chips freshly cooked here, right by the sea front. They offer a wide range of fish, no fish in batter but lovely fish poached with herbs and butter - v nice! Food here is always fantastic, fish chowder, kippers in a bun and biscoff cheesecake seated outside we enjoyed every bit staff were friendly and gave great customer service always a favourite visit.
It was a gloriously hot morning and I’d had some good news-so how to celebrate? We walked the dog at Cornthwaite Park, then popped over the road to Latimers. I’ve bought seafood for years from here, so decided to make up a platter of my very own favourites: crab, roll mops, lux prawns, smoked mussel
Loved our visit. Great food and service. Ordered the prawn sandwich and coffee while there and bought crayfish to bring home. Will definitely be back for more.
Amazing seafood shop! It was hard to choose from the fantastic array of fresh seafood on offer. In the end we went for the lobster platter - and were not disappointed!
Latimers has always been one of our favourites! We called in today and opted for the crab box for two platter. As always everything was so fresh, tasty and excellent value for money, we both thoroughly enjoyed it!

Great for eating in, snacks for taking out and fresh as you can get seafood to take home and cook yourself. Staff are always friendly and very helpful.
