We booked the bottomless afternoon tea and it was fantastic. Highly recommend it.
Plenty of food available with a good balance between sweet and savoury (the cheese scone was đź‘Ś).
Drinks options included prosecco, prosecco cocktails, gin/pink gin and mixer and beer so plenty of options to please everyone.
Attentive service for the lovely staff, shout out to Harrison who kept the gins coming regularly!
This lovely eatery is a much needed addition to Sunderland centre. Its unusual themed decor is very attractive. Clean, well kept surroundings, we were made welcome by friendly staff. There is a good selection of teas as well as coffees. Soft and alcoholic drinks can be purchased, prices are reasonable. The menu is varied, from cakes snacks, jacket potatoes, panini to a main course. We had a chicken pasta dish ÂŁ6.95, good size portion and well presented. The relaxing atmosphere and low key music is pleasant. The attention to detail was so nice, will definitely go again.
Amazing cocktails and food looks and smells delicious. Staff are so friendly!
Beautiful venue, amazing staff, delicious food
Can't recommend The looking glass enough!

Attended an amazing Alice in wonderland party today complete with characters. Little tea party was lovely
Amazing food and atmosphere would come again any day
My Mrs been desperate to visit for months. Took advantage of their amazing “Date Night” deal of 2 mains/sides/drinks for £30. From the first moment inside we were looked after superbly, the decor is a sublime. Great music in the background, the owners Mam was taking orders, showed us to our table & was just amazing the entire meal. From the little touches of my Mrs being asked to pick a card out of the pack to randomly choose what cocktail, the food was exceptional. Steak with pepper/strawberry sauce something I’ve never tried, want again! Can’t wait to visit again. Delightful venue, great hosts, top grub & a heated outdoor courtyard for the difficult COVID times. We will be back soon!!
Wanted to visit for ages, used my husband's birthday as an excuse and had booked sunday lunch this weekend. Even before we got across the doorway they were going all out to help us as our satnav was unable to find it, we rang them and they sent a member of staff to wave at us from the top of the street!! That's service that you get with a family run restaurant. Decor was all redone in lockdown and themed, obviously, with Alice in Wonderland and looking glass story book ornaments and art. We loved it, classy, fun and quirky, just like us. We are self employed furniture upcyclers and have lots of Alice inspired items in our Jacky white's market stall, just a few minutes away, in Sunderland too. Food was good and plenty of it, great homemade gravy. Lush choice of puddings. They do an imaginative range of cocktails but i was driving. They handled the Covid-19 advice well, explained it at the door and the friendly waitress kept us right. Overall lovely experience and we will return on another day to try the week menu.
The Looking Glass was recommended by my mother in law and was easy to find. Service was fantastic and the food was excellent. I had a Chicken and bacon salad. The chicken pieces were beautiful and the bacon was lovely and crispy but melted in your mouth. The dressing was beautiful and the salad had a good mixture. The coutons were even lovely. My hubby had the special which was Chicken and prawn sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very attentive and made us feel very welcome. Lunch time was very busy but the staff just took it in their stride. Lovely place and worth a visit.
