The Chop House At The Dun Cow - Sunderland - Photo album

Only my second ever visit. Casta found it in his 2023 CAMRA Good Beer Guide. In said guide not just for beer but because this Grade 2 listed building beside the famous Sunderland Empire Theatre has a pub decor of significant historical heritage..in other words "bloody lovely". On a rubbish August ev
Fantastic style of pub, unchanged decor in a long time. Great selection of beers and lagers on Draft and Cask. Food wasn't as great as I expected but still very nice, maybe slightly overpriced. Great, friendly bar service though. Calm, chilled atmosphere inside.
Great pub I used to visit when I worked in town. Fabulous historic and preserved interior (listed) good food and beer.
Lovely original 1800s bar and decor (I understand it's 'listed') in this local pub for an older crowd. Friendly staff and a lot of beers for a fair price.
Just had the most delicious Sunday lunch at The Dun Cow, food was really tasty, beautifully cooked and plentiful. The puds were so good too, and a wide range of ales and other drinks to choose from. Friendly bar staff and a beautiful bar to admire while you sit! Will definitely be returning β˜ΊοΈπŸ‘
Beautiful and friendly traditional pub. Good beers and a free music night (Tuesday) with great talent on show.
Great pub, great service from attentive friendly bar staff. Would like to see a few more cask pumps but a large variety of keg ales. Dog friendly and staff brought some water and a treat out for our pooch. πŸ‘ŒπŸ™‚
Brilliant pub, good drinks and atmosphere. Great bar staff. Prices good too.
Brilliant. Great little traditional pub with a good atmosphere, good selection of beers and excellent food.
Nice place for a nice pint 🍺 and a bite to eat before going to the theatre afterwards..it's got a nice old-fashioned sort theme..and nice staff as well.
Great little pub but drastically understaffed for a theatre night, two deep at the bar and the lad was flying solo
I was the only customer in, so the service was quick! Amazing choice of beers. I'll be back
Good pint, friendly barman. Nice location, and good looking bar.
The building itself took my breath away. I love visiting old pubs. Had few drinks with my group of walkers/runners and really enjoyed being at the pub. The staff behind the bar was quite friendly as well.
It's an old - fashioned pub with a stunning well-restored Edwardian interior. Friendly service, popular with locals.
Beautiful inside, decent pint of Citra, cant comment on food or atmosphere as was near closing on wednesday so quiet.
Great pub, lovely traditional interior. Great choice of ales. Very welcoming, pleasant staff. It's definitely one of the best pubs in the town. Well worth a visit, and sample the atmosphere!
Good pub. Food really good. Good selection of ales and lagers. Splendid interior, a real jewel.
