Locals pub in Surbiton also home of the Big Smoke brewery. Good range of real ales including those brewed on site. Cheep bar food, lounge at the back and a patio where they host beer festivals. It is only a short walk from Surbiton station, also buses stop nearby. No parking unless you find a place on the street.
Always a great pub, great beer, great atmosphere, great staff, great times
Had a great afternoon with friends here. Started with a low alcohol beer as recommended by the friendly and knowledgeable bartender. The dirty vegan chips were delicious, so delicious I forgot to take a picture when they arrived as I got stuck in straight away! Fab pub ❤️
Amazing beer and atmosphere. Very lucky to pop in on a Beer Festival with a selection of more than 40 beers and ciders
Great place for a private party. We fit about 38 people in the back room.
On street parking free after hours or pay n display. We had no problem parking. A bub with a bear garden at the back and beyond a restaurant with indoor seating. Very busy with locals so must be a good place. Just a few beers and a chat after work.
Some people move to areas because of the schools or the commute. I moved to Surbiton because I fell in love with a pub. The Antelope is the birthplace of the now huge but still independent Big Smoke Brewery. The old brewery in the garden moved out to Esher to meet capacity demands and has since transformed into a ‘Brewhouse Restaurant’, a more refined, quieter atmosphere than the front venue. This has the welcome side-effect of allowing the inside of The Antelope to continue to be itself. Out of all their sites – which include near Heathrow and Luton airports – this is probably the most pub-like: not the polished, brightly-lit newer spaces you see Big Smoke opening now, but cosy and dark, with an eclectic vinyl selection that soundtracks your drinking and a roaring fire in the winter.
The main draw is still the beer: the walls and ceilings are decked out with hundreds of pump clips from the ever-changing 10 real ales and 14 keg beers they have had on. It’s a pub that remains consistently busy in the evenings and, despite its suburban location, a steady flow of customers dip in and out all day. And while the beer selection alone will always keep me coming back, the hospitality of the team that work here, past and present, cannot be overstated. A total package. My favourite pub in London.
We really enjoyed our meal at the brew house. We went for my mums birthday and a lovely Sunday roast. Staff were so helpful, the man was rushed off his feet but nothing was too much for him. Will definitely be going back again.
Fabulous and cost dog friendly pub! Good prices and decent selection of non-beer drinks. Great energy and clean toilets which is a must. Would happily return for drinks and food!
The biggest roast I have ever seen, smashing selection of beers and a bonus star for the bar man having a Rennie for when we over indulgened.
Lovely pub and we always have a great time when we go there
This is such a lovely pub. We had an amazing Sunday roast for 9 people, and everything was perfect. We’ll definitely be coming back.
Service, atmosphere and brilliant beer! 😍
After 3 months in Surbiton...this is the one!
I've genuinely been to all of them!
What really makes this pub stand out from other local pubs is the atmosphere and service.
Clearly very clever management, as staff clearly want to be there, and seem proud, confident and relaxed! From wearing what they want rather than a uniform, selecting entire albums to be played on the record player, this all contributes to such a positive, friendly and relaxed atmosphere...so rare these days!
Being a big smoke pub you won't find a
Peroni or Heineken etc, (fear no, order helles lager👌) BUT you will find a huge selection of own brewed brilliance. Clean crisp beers, and (from a former publican), brilliantly kept lines.
There's a huge ale selction that (while not my thing) clearly rotates regularly
Keep up the good work!
