My favourite local pub just for a relaxing drink or a reasonably priced reasonable meal
First time I had been there - such generous helpings - simply delicious
Excellent food beautifully prepared
Nice venue
I had dinner there last week: it was a rainy cold evening, had just arrived from Portugal and we were taken to this fantastic place where we had a super dinner by the fireplace.
I hope I can return there in April. Until I do, I wish you all the best and I thank the service the welcoming and the quality of EVERYTHING!
Most recommended! :-)
Great location, great atmosphere, great menu and great staff who looked after us.
We'll be back.
Had a great time years ago when I worked there.
Really nice pub, there was alot of wasps in the garden though, maybe they need to phone pest control and give them a free pint or something to sort it out.
I enjoyed a beer in here on several occasions. But today was Sunday lunch. Busy rural pub 15 mins south of Reading. Car park packed and only able to park on the road.
Absolutely superb. Friendly staff, swift service - despite the crowd. And very high quality food. I enjoyed the G&D burger - absolutely fabulous and Mrs B had the roast beef (Medium Rare) - described as “the best roast beef I have ever had……that I haven’t cooked”. And she knows a good roast beef. High praise indeed. All washed down with some decent Merlot. All in all very very good for about £60. Highly recommended.
Brilliant food and drink, lovely atmosphere, dog friendly, excellent service. Would highly recommend!
This was my first visit since the George & Dragon was acquired by the Siren Brewery and what a pleasant surprise from my previous visit. It has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent. I had the pea and ham soup and the other diner had the rarebit, which she said was the best she had ever had. I had the ribeye steak with burnt onion butter as my main and the steak was cooked to my liking and was very tender, the burnt onion butter was delicious. The other diner had the venison, which again, was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be visiting again.
Down from Scotland to visit my friend who was also having a Christmas dinner with her Horse yard friends . What a lovely place the George and Dragon is from arriving got a lovely table in a corner eating alone as my friend was in a large Xmas group fabulous staff all three that served me deserve Gold stars served me with relaxed confidence which allowed some banter and fun between myself and the two lads and lovely lass who I asked to recomend a beer I had Siren momento. Delicious smooth and worked well with my food. Harrissa paste / pesto Aubergines and Pilsner battered fish and chips and just to have me rolling out a delicious Apple and blackberry’ crumble. And custard all this topped off with a great coffee .
Don’t hesitate drive out relax enjoy.
Thanks guys.
Can’t recommend this pub enough! Our first visit and very impressed, wonderful food which is locally sourced, tasty Siren beer and all reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and lovely atmosphere. Their set menu is great, we had the flash rump steak for main and was the tastiest we have had for a while! Cannot wait to return!
Food was nice but dishes were a bit basic for the price unless you paid for extras which then worked out expensive. Some of the portion sizes were a bit small. Service was good and I would have left a tip but it was already added to the bill which I feel is wrong as should be up to the customer and dependant on how good the service is.
What a great find! A cosy pub with incredibly friendly staff.
Popped by as another local pub we went to weren't serving food and the other half was starving.
George & Dragon had stopped serving food too but very kindly said they'd do some chips for us. Which was amazing!
They went above and beyond.
Highly recommended and we will be revisiting.
Great atmosphere and lovely secluded garden. Great selection of very tasty food and drinks at reasonable prices, staff were smiley and friendly - made us feel really welcome. We will be back soon!
The best Sunday roast for miles around, and brewery fresh beer on cask, keg and in bottles. Highly recommend Broken Dream on cask!
What beer there is remains as good as ever, but there's no Broken Dream 😕
Great beer, and pretty good food in a real fire/craft ale kind of atmosphere.
Some of the team serving were clearly new so a few things got briefly forgotten but hopefully those kinds of things will get ironed out quickly.
More expensive than I was expecting
Wonderful Old English Country pub serving delicious food and great local beer.
Our lunch group of 11 had lunch today at the George and Dragon and we all rated our food choices and the service very highly. Ten of us had chosen 2 courses each from the set menu , which were ordered in advance. The eleventh member of our group chose a main from the a La carte menu ( pre-ordered) and a dessert chosen on the day, . Without exception the food was excellent and service came with a smile and a cheery word or two. Would highly recommend and I for one will be returning.
Great service and delectable food. Can’t fault it.
Absolutely lovely pub ,food fantastic service second to none , a must to visit, there's not many of these pubs around anymore
