Review Harper's Steakhouse & Bar Swanwick Marina - Swanwick

We were well looked after and catered for during our two night stay at Harper's. Following a request for a dog friendly room, manager, Steve, called to verify what supplies we required in our room prior to our arrival. We were pleased to find a dog bowl, dog bed, and treats for our girl waiting in our room upon our arrival. It was a lovely touch. The rooms are just like the photos featured by the hotel - newly refurbished, well turned out, fashionably designed rooms, with modern in-rooms features and facilities. Customer service throughout the business was faultless, and our restaurant waitress Hope was fantastic - pleasant, attentive, and friendly. Food in the restaurant was spot on. We ate here for breakfast and dinner. Tip: Vegetarians will love the Sunday nut roast - ordered by my partner. I'm a meat eater, and I'd have happily ordered that over a traditional meat roast, it was that good. Tip: If you're checking in late, be sure to inform the hotel, as there is no overnight check-in service, and check-in closes when the restaurant closes (23:00, I believe). Harper's is the perfect location for those wishing to stay prior to a cruise from Southampton (19 min drive), and those wishing to enjoy Goodwood events (42 min drive). I'd be more than happy to stay here again.

Great Wednesday evening out for our sons birthday. Service from Abbi was excellent. Food and drinks went down well. Evening menu is a good deal, 3 courses for 19.99

I visited this Sunday evening with my two children. We didn't have a reservation, but unlike a previous venue, we were given a table. Service was a little slow to kick off, but once we were seen to, our waitress Abigail was warm, charming and thoughtful. The plates that the kids meals came from the kitchen on were very hot, so she organised some cold ones to dish the food onto. She replenished the water when needed, and engaged with the children with a smile. The food was good, although I did not sample the steak on this visit. The kids cleared their plates, and the Calamari I ordered was a fair portion and was delicious. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to others. Another thank you to Abigail for making us feel at home.

We came here for the first time for my partners birthday and we’re very very happy with the service! We loved the food and the atmosphere, the staff were very helpful in finding us a suitable table as we had our baby with us

Omg!! Where do I start? We have had an amazing time here the last two days. Superb food, excellent room and staff that are absolutely fantastic. We have been celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and they even made a certificate and had rose petals on the bed. Bloody, bloody amazing. Thank you all so much for a fabulous time and one that we will remember with very happy memories. From Mr and Mrs Goss.

Staff were nice enough, not overly friendly, not rude. Place is beautiful and clean. Mains menu is good, definitely something for everyone. If a little pricey, but where isn't these days. I had the chicken and bacon waffle - delicious, well presented. However, it always disappoints me that chain restaurants don't use plant based cream for the desserts, opening all the desserts up for consumption by EVERYONE.

Lovely meal. Steaks cooked just how we liked them. Service was top notch, especially from the waiter named Driton who noticed that our garlic bread was over cooked so knocked it off the bill before we had even said anything. Will definitely be back in the near future.

Had my 60th family meal here. Excellent food, service and ambiance. Would have loved a dessert but didn't have the room after the delicious first course!!

Spent this weekend at harpers steakhouse with my father. Our room was very tidy and clean, beds were very comfy and we both slept very well. The food was amazing. I a steak the first night and I had to call my partner back home to tell that this was by far the best steak I've ever had. The full English we had for our breakfast was also amazing. The staff was super friendly and would do the upmost to make you welcome and to give the amazing stay. The waitress we had on the first night (Ruby) was very professional but also very friendly and made us feel very welcome and fully deserved her tip at the end of the night. Overall the next time we visit Southampton again we will be booking our stay here again. Thank you all.

On the restaurant: We enjoyed both a dinner and as overnight guests a breakfast at Harper's. Dinner was good. My husbands trout was plated beautifully and well cooked. Needed a little more seasoning but he ate it all. My ribeye was a little chewy but great flavor. Nice salad and both our fries (sweet potato & for him Parmesan truffle fries) were perfectly seasoned and best of all crispy. The standout of the evening was the service provided by Driton. Very professional, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. And he gave us great recommendation on the menu. Breakfast: We added breakfast as an addition to our accommodations. It included a lovely menu as well as a continental option. I had the traditional Benedict and had them add sautéed spinach. Excellent hollandaise, bright and lemony. My husband had perfectly tender scrambled eggs with a lovely smoked salmon. Highly recommended. And again outstanding service. Alex made me the best and creamiest cappuccino. She made sure we had everything we needed for a lovely breakfast and did it with efficiency and a great smile. Kudos to Harper's for hiring such wonderful staff. On the accommodations, we stayed a night at Harper's before a cruise. Warm welcome from the staff upon arrival. Room was quaint and clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. And thank goodness for the fan in the room for cooling.

Great stay here. Staff were very friendly, room was tidy clean & well appointed, even a nice coffee machine. Breakfast I had the vegan breakfast with I though was great. I did leave the toast, just too much food. The evening meal I had pulled port burger, lush.

Fantastic birthday last weekend, we were a group of 14 and we really had great time. Driton was our waiter and he was attentive throughout. Thank you for making our night so good.

An early evening family meal, served by Driton who was very efficient and helpful. We queried the bill as it was more than we expected! This was because we ate before 6 and the computer system didn’t kick in. Plus it did not say on the menu that chicken and bacon on the Cesear salad was extra! A massive omission. Meanwhile, Driton amended the bill. 2 courses and a cocktail or beer for under £20 is not to be sniffed at.

Definitely stay again,lovely little place we had a very warm welcoming I assume was the owner or manager,he then showed us to our room,just wow what a room it was.then up in the morning with a full English breakfast🥵one of the best b&b iv visited.

We went for the all you can eat wings on Wednesday. Amazing food and the friendliest service we’ve ever had. Driton was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed!

My steak was great: juicy, tasty, properly cooked. However my husband was not so happy with his Sunday roast trio - chicken was boiled not roasted and pork had more fat than meat. Staff were really polite, friendly and nice, however forgot to exclude a soup from the order and the final bill. Nevertheless, the place is good and we will visit again for sure.

I visit here often for dinner. Always amazing food and good service. Not too expensive either, actually very good value.
