Enjoyed a catch-up and lunch on Sunday. An interesting quirky place with roast lunches and other options. Recommended.
I would come for just the atmosphere and that Badger is my favourite brewery.
Lovely views of the canal and a non cliché canal barge decor.
It was a bit of faff to order as it wouldn't let us go through the webpage via QR code and then the card machine was playing up, but the staff was friendly.
Food was great. Lots of flavour in the pork terrene and the fried chicken burger. Chips were cooked perfectly but portion size could have been a bit bigger. The ndja chicken lacked any spice and could have done with more ndja, however it was cooked perfectly being tender and juicy with a crispy skin.
It is a fascinating place in any weather in any season and at any time of the day. It is amazing to sit outside enjoying the canal or be indoors taking pleasure of marvellous interiors and a Victorian library.
Arrived here at opening time, very cold day but was greeted by a very happy lady on staff who clearly enjoys the job, a pleasant change.
Had breakfast here, full English. Done to a turn although I personally don't like crispy bacon, but I didn't have the heart to say, I was enjoying sitting by the log burner in a big cosy armchair too much.
Great selection of cakes here also if you just want a snack. I'm usually wary of theme pubs, but this is fun and a friendly family atmosphere. I personally wouldn't come to a bar on a busy weekend,so it's nice to be able to enjoy the place without the crowds.
Quite a few walk ins in the morning, a testament to how popular the place is. As it is sites next to a canal, they have put a barge in the place, sticking through the window, with tables and chairs inside, great idea !
On the whole you will pay about £4-5 more for a breakfast than other places, but I assure you, you won't feel as good for going cheaper. It gets my vote, and I recommend coming here if you get the chance. TIP: in the winter, get I. first or early to get near the log burner s !
Very nice place. Good service. The menu is too normal in my opinion and not in style with the place, nothing special. Everything was good, but I was hoping for something better.
It was really cold inside, I needed to keep my jacket on.
Exceptionally nice pub, one of the most good looking modern pubs I've ever seen. Plenty of space to sit at, well equipped pub and nice beers.
Choice of food, on the other end, was far from impressive. We had the chicken burger and the steak pie. The pie was nice, but the crispy chicken burger was on the dry side. Cakes were nice. We found the coffee to be very bitter, probably the blend they use? Not strong or burnt, but bitter.
Local to my in-laws we have dropped in to eat at least once every time we are in Swindon visiting them. Always good food, super clean bathrooms, great decor and atmosphere...and DOGS a plenty😁
As we can't travel overseas with our own furboy it is nice to be somewhere that is so accommodating to other dog owners .
Love coming here! Staff are absolutely lovely, a taste of the beer before you buy, bread for the ducks! Lovely setting by the canal. Typical pub grub.
Omg amazing place knew about it for a long time, but there never was occasion to visit. Never expect is so specious, was expecting it will be nicely decorated but my head just blowed . It was Christmas time as well, so got festive decorations. Staff was super friendly and helpful. We had burgers for the main, they weren't great , was just good, and bun was falling apart ( it was good we finished our meal). The desert was amazing, very tasty we had sticky toffee pudding. Cocktails are very good as well.
Great evening in a great restaurant. Tasted very English food and drinks. Pie and cider. It was fantastic! It is also very lovely to sit outside and enjoy the view of the canal.
