Thai Orchid

I've given 4* as the food was delicious. Some lovely unusual dishes on the menu. What let the place down was the atmosphere (more to follow on that) and the restaurant needed a bit of TLC as was looking a bit tired. Looking around noticed it needed redecorating. The service was friendly but slow, a number of diners got up asked the waitress for more drinks or when their food would be ready which affected the atmosphere. We had to wait between 30 and 45 mins for our food which we was ok by us but not for others. The main reason we found out was due to number of takeaways/deliveries being ordered and accepted. I understand that they do not want to turn away business but there has to be a balance towards looking after your in house diners and give them priority especially if only having one chef. Surely, the take out orders could be given a later delivery time. Would I go back, not in a hurry, would I order a takeaway - certainly for the food.

Best Thai food we have tasted in Swindon! Tom-Yum Soup is our favourite, absolutely authentic with an amazing aroma. We have also tried Lamb Black Pepper Sizzler which is great along with the Thai Red Curry and Jasmine rice. It's a small place, quiet on weekdays but can be very busy over the weekend.

Very quiet, clean, presentable restaurant, excellent food adapted to be vegan for us. Great service from the the young person on their first shift, other staff there equally as efficient and friendly. We did ask to leave gratuity, but asked if tips go to the staff, we were informed that all tips cash or card go to the business!! I find this absolutely outrageous!! The owners need to seriously consider changing this, truly disgusting.
