Sadly I only ever frequent The Kingsdown for wakes, which I guess given its proximity to the crematorium is to be expected, but they seem to do them well. As a family we had a delightful afternoon celebrating the life of a family member. The service was sensitive and efficient which given we were a large group was impressive and the food lovely and catered well for the various needs. The risk being given we were such a large group we overran the place, hopefully not but if we did it was sensitively handled.

First time visitor to the Kingsdown and have to say I was really impressed. The food was great, drinks were great and service was great. The halloumi burger was outstanding, highly recommended. The steak pie was good too. Definitely would recommend and go again

Jeez, it's much improved...the new management appreciate the loyalty of the regulars whilst also being aware they must encourage new footfall by increasing the interest/offer with new menus, decent wine prosecco glasses, wider opening and closing times for food, music sport on the telly, discos and bands 🙌

Came here for a funeral wake.
I have always found The Kingsdown a very nice pub. It's a big place with two bars and outside seating area.
The buffet food served today was very tasty. I love food, so enjoyed it all, especially their home cooked style cheese and onion quiche😋
Had a nice drink of Thatchers cider to celebrate the passing of our friend.
It is a very popular place to come to, but no the wrong side of the town to me, just to casually pop in, without having to drive.
Well worth a visit to try out, lots of ales on draught to try.

Booked for 9 people for a birthday lunch. We had three gluten free people in our party one of whom is also dairy free.
Menu offered lots of variety for us all; although if they made the sausages GF too this would have been fantastic. However, food was delicious. Kitchen accommodated our late pudding order and we were amazed all the puddings seem home cooked. Kids were thrilled with their apple crumble (could the crumble be GF too please!)
Staff were great.
Fabulous pub with a lovely garden and super dog friendly too both in the pub and in the garden.
We will definitely be back.
Thank you so much Suzie and Neil.

Took my mum and grand dog for the first time. I wasn't looking forward to it because she's not keen on dog. They treated us so well. With a treat and water for Bob.
Run out of beef but chicken was delicious. Would definitely go back

Good pub grub, reasonably priced. Stopped serving at 2pm on the Saturday we visited so be mindful of the time if you go at lunchtime.

Food was average, and we waited quite a while for food to arrive. Not keen on frozen skin on fries chips reminded me of the ones you get from aldi.

We held a wake here, it is two minutes from the crematorium, very well catered, with ample choice and plentifully quantity. We were given a quiet corner with lots of chairs and tables, tea and coffee.
The team clearly knew we were coming and looked after us really well on the most difficult of days.

The Kingsdown has been our local for years and we absolutely love it! The staff are friendly and efficient and really welcome you. Our family all have many of our events there and they are so accommodating. I would really recommend for a quiet drink, group drinks, family lunch and dinners. And the food is amazing! Thanks Kingsdown team.

Popped in for dinner, pub half empty and told no tables free for food as its jazz night -poor service from a local pub who should be encouraging local community.
Now in The crown where service always with a smile.
Hope service improves at the Kingsdown soon
