I visited the bar at The Great Western hotel during some delays to the trains. Reasonable prices for a hotel bar, clean toilets but not much atmosphere. One person at the bar which could be a problem when busier, but he was very pleasant and served quickly. Opposite the train station at Swindon

We all thought what a very lovely place it was. Relaxing and comfortable to have a drink. The gentleman we had serving us at our party on Saturday 13th was exceptional. He served at bar cleared tables and took away rubbish that was about from our buffet. He is a great asset to the Hotel...
Thank you so much for a very enjoyable evening...
Unfortunately I can't comment on any other questions. As we had a private party in there and nobody stayed the night...

We came to listen to the excellent band in the bar that night.
Large bar space, variety of areas to sit. Live train times feed so you can meet your train and max your time for your last pint. Very handy for bus station too.

Absolutely fantastic pub and venue. Went to a 60th birthday party and the whole evening was perfect. The food was excellent and home cooked, curry, chilli, vegetarian, rice and chips to die for. Beautifully clean, both pub and toilets. Lovely outside space which at night has stunning lighting. Would highly recommend for functions as the professional and courteous staff cannot be beaten. Most highly recommended, would give 6 stars. Will post photos on next visit.

Good pub for a drink before or after catching a train. Good drinks selection. Layout and furniture gives a relaxing lounge vibe.

Cracking pint of Staropramen. Great bar that deserves more trade. Thank you!

My first visit to Swindon, travelling from Cardiff to watch TTFC vs Wroughton Football Club at The Weir Fields, as I was bit too early for the game, I popped in ordered a two 3B & chatting with with the barman, before heading off to find where I'm going, one look at Swindon & I love the place already, when Trowbridge are next in Swindon, I'll be back in, see you soon hopefully 👍

Nice hotel, full of architecture and history, some of the lush fittings have been lost to modern styles, but all clean and tidy.
Bedroom's are of a decent size with modern en-suit's. All though a few design issues, no socket for electric toothbrush or shaver, mirror and hairdryer put in a stupid position as well the toilet paper holder. Plus lack of shelves in the bathroom.
Bar area and reception are very clean and modern. Staff are very helpful and polite.
Car parking is charged and isn't controlled by the hotel. Very handy for the train station and an easy walk into the shopping area.

Had a 50th Birthday Party here last night. The staff couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. Great venue and amenities Would highly recommend it if you're looking for a venue to hire.

The hotel was fine. Not expensive and the experience reflected that. The room was fairly comfortable, but a little too warm and the window was difficult to open. It got noisy at 7:20 when the kitchen extract started in the morning, but otherwise it was fairly quiet. Staff were efficient and friendly.
The one problem was regarding the car park. It's a pay and display adjacent to the hotel, but we passed it three times before we spotted it. Signposting could be improved. We knew we had to pay for the car park and expected to have to go to the meter. However, we decided to check the booking first, and it was as well we did as the car parking charge had already been debited from our credit card on arrival.
The hotel is fine for an overnight stay and quiet on this Friday night.

First time visitor. A great historic exterior, with a modern decor and furnishing inside up complement it. The location is central to both train & bus stations, plus town centre. Food and drinks are reasonable priced. Although some of the food on Christmas menu wasn't as good as expected. Very friendly staff, both welcoming and willing to assist with any special requests.

Great location, reasonable rates, friendly bar staff and generally ok room with basic amenities. My double room was very spacious and quiet (faced the car park), decent bathroom and I was comfy for the night! £5 to park for 24 hours which is convenient for business. Enjoyed my stay!

They list this as a pub, and there's certainly one there, but this was one of nicest lodgings we've ever stayed. The room was spacious and all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They also fed us a fine breakfast each morning.
We stayed here because we were visiting Avebury Stone Circle, just a few minutes away by bus. The Great Western was a great location, across the street from the trains and just a couple blocks from the bus station.

Just opposite the railway station and a good thing is they have the train times in a screen so you can plan your journey. If you like single malts they have a good selection. Real ales on hand pump as well as largers on tap. Staff are very smartly dressed and very friendly. Not busy when we went in bit could get busy at the weekends I imagine.

Stayed with wife and 5yr old on the Groupon deal. Staff very good, good large bar with pool table and breakfast was nice. It took a while to arrive, as I think the entire hotel went as soon as they opened on Sunday morning. Once they got going we saw food coming out quickly.
This is not the quietest room - even had skateboarders going up and down the train station entrance until quite late - but it was absolutely fine for somewhere to stay for peanuts.
Local (easy walking distance) to shops and another pub just over the road.

Stayed here mid-week Wednesday. Right next to station and my meeting place, so very convenient. Room nice and clean. Staff friendly and professional. Had dinner elsewhere in town. Enjoyed cooked breakfast here, first class bacon and eggs and excellent coffee.
