LS Lowry the artist used to catch the train from Pendlebury train station. Station closed in 1960. Station was opposite the Pub Old Station House One day I missed a train from Pendlebury a place I had ignored for seven years – and as I left the station I saw the Acme Spinning Company's mill… The huge black framework of rows of yellow-lit windows standing up against the sad, damp charged afternoon sky. The mill was turning out… I watched this scene — which I'd looked at many times without seeing — with rapture…" This experience led Lowry to incorporate elements of local textile mills and factory chimneys into many of his works, and elements of the Acme Mill can be seen in two of his iconic paintings: Coming from the Mill (1930) and The Mill, Pendlebury (1941). His painting the Railway Platform (1953) railway passengers at Pendlebury station. sold in 2015 for £1.6 million

Quite a small intimate place with an outdoor section but on balance great setting for an event. Can't comment on the bathroom amenities and doesn't have a late licence though hence the score, however that is understandable given the residential area.

Lovely venue, but I had a walker, due to my disability and I struggled with the steps even though it was only 2 at each end of where the tables were.
