A warm welcome, seated promptly. Offered 3 different menu options and was asked for drinks. Drinks arrived very quickly and was ready to order. Service was quick and the waitress attentive. Food was very good indeed ! portion sizes were good and the prices were reasonable although maybe a bit higher than id normally pay for a quick lunch out but then again I'm a cheapskate and you get what you pay for and that was very nice fresh food. Thanks will be back !

Had the most amazing Christmas day meal at the Platform, could not fault the food, out of this world, and 100% to the waiting staff also, my glass was never empty and didn't have long to wait between courses, and staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly, thank you Platform 1864.

Excellent service was acknowledged as soon as we walked in and asked if we had booked we said no which was not a problem. We were taken to a table and given a menu also asked what drinks we would like. We both went for the fish and chips which I would highly recommend you cannot beat homemade chips. Great value for money and friendly staff.

What a gem of a spot! Adorable atmosphere with a charming concept. The service was swift and they were all so nice! And the food…oh my it was delicious! We had the haggis bombs and a special with chicken breast stuffed with haggis draped with a layer of ham and layered in a lovely sauce. Perfection!

After a disappointment of dinner yesterday at another place we deciced to try this place today and so happy that we did. Good amount of duck in the spring rolls, plenty of King prawn on the main dish. Also very balanced on the spiciness where the chili was there and stayed but wasn't overwhelming. Finished up with some tasty cheeses and we all left stuffed so much that we might not need breakfast tomorrow. Also the kid menu came with some games and coloring pens to entertain the kids while waiting for the food. Sure to visit again when in the area.

Lovely setting for a restaurant and we did find the food was nice but just a little pricey for us. Can't fault waiters and waiting time for food.

We went here after a local distillery tour and it was well recommended by the staff on our tour. It did not disappoint. We had toasties and paninis. Their soups were fresh and very hot. The bar made fun drinks for my daughters. This is a hidden gem in Tain. Crazy that it is essentially the train station.

Arrived unbooked on a Sunday for lunch. The friendly staff fitted me in just fine. Good friendly service with excellent food. Having a train turn up outside the window makes things interesting for the kids.

I was pleasantly surprised when I went in for the first time. It's a great combination for the old building's apprentice, raw materials, and exposed stone walls. The seating area was comfortable. Servis was prompt, and we were looked after. I ordered the Mussels for starters followed by Braised Blade of Beef as main. Mussels had a white garlic sauce that was quite delicious. (I like to take all the Mussels out the shell and enjoy my food at once, not "work" for each bite:)) ) The Braised Blade of Beef as tender as candy floss, just melted in the mout. Well pleased with attention to flavours and how the dish was put together, hats down for the ladies for their customer service.

Stunningly good food, best smoked salmon sandwich I've ever had, my granddaughter had mac and cheese which was so tasty. The service was superb, efficient and friendly. The seats were comfy, the surroundings excellent and great ambience. I just wish I lived near here so I could become a regular 😁

I had a fantastic meal here, served by a very efficient, friendly young lady. The restaurant was spotlessly clean as were the toilets. There is ample parking available, and the town centre is within easy walking distance.

I cannot be more complimentary about my recent experience at Platform 1864 in Tain. As soon as we arrived, the owner and operator, Graham, greeted us with a smile and immediately welcomed us with a comfortable seat while we waited for our table. Drinks came very quickly and, after a friendly conversation with Graham, we hardly noticed the time passing before staff whisked us to our table. The menu is well-rounded, with lots of options, many of which include local ingredients. My companions had the chicken burger and I ate the scampi. Both were excellent, served quickly, and are very reasonably priced for the quality. The dining room itself is a wonderful place to spend some time. The walls are covered with all kinds of paraphernalia related to trains and train stations from all around the local area. Care has clearly been taken to preserve as much history in this important local building as possible. Having recently married, I mentioned this to Graham in passing conversation and, after we had finished our meal, he was kind enough to provide us with a complimentary aperitif. His consideration and ability to put a guest at ease are what I will remember most from my visit to the Platform. Having been brought up in the area, I am well aware that the Platform has an excellent local reputation as not only a place to eat, but somewhere to go for a drink or a coffee. This reputation is well deserved.
