Lovely to be able to go to a pub and get good pub grub and not over priced 'gourmet' food, that leaves you hungry and broke, our local and would highly recommend it, especially the burgers 🍔

Fantastic location, atmosphere was stunning being right by the canal and such a sunny aspect. The only reason I say 4 is, the baguettes were nice, however had to sub items due to not having any sweet potato fries left and mine and my partners came such a longer time after our friends that they had to collect their plates at the same time as delivering ours even though we ordered at same time. It's a beautiful place, staff are lovely and I recommend it but get early for food!

The atmosphere was great. Not clicky at all like some pubs. The staff were very helpful, friendly and polite. The food was nothing short of excellent, and I highly recommend the cottage pie. Nice beer too, with a really pleasant pale ale HPA from the Wye Valley Brewery. I travelled through here on my boat, and I'll certainly be calling in on the way back, for sure.

Enjoyable evening. Food was served quickly and my scampi was good value for money. My friend's pie looked very appetising. Service was efficient and friendly from the young members of staff on duty. The Red Lion was a good half-way-house meeting point - it had been recommended to us - as I travelled from Nottingham and a friend travelled from Bromsgrove. Would have no hesitation in visiting again.

A pleasant independent operation located canalside with extensive gardens and a particularly good place to bring children for outdoor entertainment as the waters edge area is safely fenced off. Internally clean and tidy, a good basic menu exists, some items of which are time-restricted to lunchtime periods. These include a range of very reasonably priced 'Baguette' Options which extend from 'Sausage' to 'Steak & Onion' with many other choices available between. Normally served with a Side Salad and Chips. a 'lighter' option exists whereby, and no extra cost, you can substitute Chips with 'Soup of The Day' if you're watching the calories. I exercised this option on my last visit, only to be presented with the most tasty and delicious meat-filled homemade 'Chicken & Vegetable Soup' that I've ever been served. I'm not sure how much I saved in calories, but enjoyable and 'filling' was an understatement. Portion sizes are good , as is the quality of food served. Overall, it's a very good value for money visit - and a refreshing change to know that most of what you're eating has been freshly prepared - and not shipped frozen from Corporate HQ's Central Distribution Depot somewhere between Lands End and John O' Groats. Staff are friendly and attentive. The only downside to an otherwise perfect venue is parking space availability - or lack of it on a busy day: so if you're planning a Saturday/Sunday lunchtime visit in Summer Season, best to book in advance to ensure you don't have a quarter mile walk to/from your car...

Absolutely amazing southern fried chicken... decent prices and the garden area and play area well kept and lovely sitting outside, by the canal. Kids loved it, they were kept active running around, great staff Definitely have found our local.

Nice food and friendly service. Large beer garden with plenty of seating, quiet. The car park is a bit small but had plenty of spaces on my visit. Lemon meringue pie was very nice as was the burger and fish cakes.

Great pub where everyone knows everyone, legendary beer garden next to the canal where you can see boats passing by and feed ducks. Option of covered seating outside. Have had a bacon sandwich here, a roast dinner and fish and chips and all were 10/10

Fairly typical pub. Nothing wrong with the food we ordered, and they had a few nice beers on tap. Dog friendly (bar and outside) and plenty of space outdoors.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. It was very busy and difficult to park but managed to just squeeze into a spot with our other party's car parked in front of ours. The food and service was good. Prices reasonable . Would visit again.

I visited here with my family for Mother's day. The food was really nice. It was served hot and everything was cooked perfectly. Just like a home cooked dinner. Portions sizes were generous too. The dining area is very clean and welcoming. (I didn't visit the bar area) All the staff are friendly and the service was excellent. Can't wait until the weather improves so that we can return and sit outside near the canal.

I went to lunch with mom and dad. First time I have been in The Red Lion. Really nice lounge with great menu. I had soup of the day which was butternut squash, it was really tasty, one of my top favourite. I had a sausage and onion baguette, which was more like a canoe. Also really tasty, mom and dad shared nachos which mom said were some of the best she had had. For main my dad had fish and chips which he really enjoyed, quite a large portion and mom had chicken and leek. The pie was generous in its own dish and served with chips and peas, mom really enjoyed it, it was quite a lot. Staff were all really friendly and very professional, such a lovely meal will definitely go again. It is right by the canal so beautiful setting. Thank you
