Absolutely beautiful meal for my birthday 🎂 the lovely young lady called Danielle was fabulous..nothing was to much,she answered every question we asked about the menu,she was kind attentive and a glowing warm smile ! Absolute credit to the Tame otter and team. Major complements to the chef..amazing food. The Calamari and king prawns were spot on, the best we've ever had !! Everything is all freshly cooked down to the home made beef and red wine pie to the smoked haddock and baby spinach fish cakes! Everything in the 3 courses we each had were fantastic 👏 the honeypot desert was to die for 🤤 Such a fabulous place to go and to eat.. we certainly will be back again 🥰 highly recommend 👌 5*

Nice, canal side, old fashioned pub. Part of a chain but trying to look like a traditional pub restaurant. Loads of space inside and out. Friendly service. The menu sets expectations that the kitchen doesn't live up to do, for us, it's not a special occasion place, it's a let's not cook tonight place. For example, scallops microwaved, calamari in chip shop batter, veloute was savoury custard with frozen peas and boiled ham in. For the basics like cheeseburger, fish and chips etc it looks great. Maybe if the menu wasn't so fancy, our expectations would be more realistic. It's in direct competition with the Red Lion across the canal. Tame Otter has better ambience, Red Lion has better food.

After reading some reviews, we were slightly concerned. However, our experience was brilliant!
Great service, no waiting for food order, and all the food we ordered was beautiful.
Spicy cauliflower soup, scallops and prawns as starters. Gammon and Pie of the day mains and Vanilla creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding. All served piping hot!
Will definitely be back.

Recently moved to the area and have been in here twice. It is a wonderful place with excellent, friendly staff and simply stunning food that is freshly prepared, served well and guarantees clean plates (and I'm a fan of meals in plates over roof slates or shovels!!). All the staff are fantastic; polite, friendly, professional and attentive without being intrusive (Roz is a particular family fave).
Tables are bookable online or on the phone with lots of options of seating and numbers or simply to pop in for the bar. If you go well, you'll be next to an open fire. Huge garden for summer seating right next to the Coventry canal.
Lots of options from the menu to suit all tastes and the dishes are all amazing. We've been through a good chunk of the menu now and nothing has disappointed. The signature burger and the lamb rack were particular favourites!
I can only say that if you're passing, don't. Pull into the spacious car park or lock the bike up at the door and get in there!

I was passing by and stop here to eat, very nice place, the stuff was friendly and the food was very good, i will eat here again for sure.

The whole restaurant/ pub itself is beautiful and you almost feel so far away from home. I need to visit in winter when that beautiful open fire is lit.
The food is so beautifully presented and of course tasted delicious. The only thing we didn’t enjoy were the roast potatoes, they reminded us of those frozen Aunt Bessie’s ones but we still can’t wait to come back and enjoy the same meal and also try the rest of the menu.
Already recommend The Tame Otter to friends and family who have yet to experience it x

I had lasagna (£13.50), it was well flavoured and arrived reasonably promptly given it's Easter weekend. They were happy to swap the salad for broccoli for me. Friendly and efficient service from Dani. Will come again.

For 5 stars, I'd like to see a couple more main meal options under £14, and it would be great to have a area to sit where the music was quieter.

Not a bad pub. Dog friendly and they have a doggy menu. Food is a bit over priced for what it is. Nice outside area and a cosy open fire inside. Right on the canal, so a fantastic place for a walk.

Friendly and helpful staff. We were three and were given a suitable table. The menu was not extensive but quite wide ranging. We had the fishcakes and the seabass. Fishcakes were especially good- large portions and full of flavour. We only had soft drinks- but the lime& soda was well mixed and had plenty of lime. We had the "Black Forest Flower Pot" for desert. WOW!!! Large portion, very tasty and thoroughly entertaining! Just brilliant. Our waitress was Ros. She was friendly helpful and didn't rush us even though the restaurant was quite busy. She chatted to us about the food, had good knowledge and was very helpful without being intrusive.
We had a great meal and would definitely visit again.

Wonderful pub, well-located for nearby walks. Super dog-friendly with blankets, bowls and treats. The Sunday menu features classic roasts (included a great veggie option) as well as a separate menu of non-roast mains. Everything was beautifully presented and service prompt and friendly. Well worth a visit!

Beautiful pub inside with friendly staff. Popped in whilst visiting friends in the area so we went for Sunday lunch. I had the turkey... food all very tasty and served by enthusiastic and friendly waitresses.
Only negative was the roast potatoes. They were very hard and not crunchy at all. Most people love a crunchy toastie with a buttery soft centre but these were pretty solid - everybody on our table said the same thing so not just me!
Otherwise, all good!

A small pub by the side of the Hopwas canal. Large outside area with loads of covered tables (which is great if it starts to rain) is available.
The food was excellent and served promptly by friendly staff.
Toilets are wheelchair accessible inside the pub building.
Grab some food and a drink here next time you are passing.
This is very dog friendly with a separate menu.

Came across the Tame Otter on a cycle ride along the canal, and were glad we did. We were hoping to find a nice pub by the canal, but after 8 miles we were about to turn round, when we came round the corner and saw the Tame Otter.
We chose to order a few of the appetisers as a kind of 'tapas', going for the calamari bites, sticky chicken and brie bites, adding the garlic flatbread when we saw one come out! All were very nicely cooked and tasty, washed down with pint of Atlantic IPA. Will definitely return, now we know where it is.

Visited on a Friday afternoon, the menu is not overwhelming like some, very well priced , both had starters and mains , too full for dessert, The food was really good, The young lady who served us was so polite , efficient and good humoured. The decor is great and clean, with lots of interesting local pictures Lots of drink choices and there is plenty of outdoor seating to admire the canal or the scenery . Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend..

The whole experience. The staff were excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Their service at this busy time was perfect. Food was excellent and we enjoyed every mouthful.
We were extremely satisfied and happy with our visit and will definitely visit again.
