It's hard to know where to start. This lovely place is a must visit when in Orkney. Book a table for brunch or lunch and browse the unique and amazing Sheila Fleet jewellery. There are other artisans fine wares in the upper gallery of the Kirk, but the star of the show is Sheila's gallery.
The design, attention to detail and execution of this little gem are like nothing I have ever seen before - it's such a well designed, beautiful place that even if you aren't into jewellery ( and you will be once you have seen it) you will love the look and feel of the place.
All the staff on site are just first class - every one of them - but special mention to Lisa and Maggie who looked after us in the gallery and cafe respectively.
Make sure you visit - you will not be disappointed.
First time visit here and it didn't disappoint!
Plenty of free parking, the converted church is quite a way off the main road route past Kirkwall Airport, but it is worth the journey.
The gallery is very light in colour and decor which displays the jewellery beautifully. The restaurant to the side is very clean and has a different array of sized tables for customers.
It is advisable to book a table which you can do online, although as it was a late afternoon mid week January day we were lucky enough to get a table immediately.
We had a light lunch plus cake afterwards, servers couldn't be more helpful.
Even the toilet was out of this world!
Very clean and the whole place is thoroughly recommended.
Amazing Jewellers and Restaurant, very friendly and helpful service.
Family run buisness and quiet often you will spot Sheila Fleet in the showroom helping out with her son, so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and knows all her crafts men/ ladies by name. Everything is made in the workshops, no cheap imports, fantastic designs and everything is handmade and Sheila Fleet is in complete control.
Can't wait to return.
#1 in Orkney!
One of the first places we ventured to on our 4 day trip to Orkney, it left such a good impression (and taste) that we returned again on last day.
Staff were lovely, welcoming and provided accurate, friendly covid rules, tables were spaced out really well and due to the lovely venue it's light and airy.
I tried the chicken and leek pie which was beautiful and then upon my return I had the beautiful Kirk Grilled Cheese toast - YUM!! As for the cakes, unsurprisingly fresh, tasty and reasonable value.
When I return to Orkney I can't wait to come back and sample more on the menu.
Great cake and their special blend tea are worth a try. Good range of baking made in house daily and the menu is great quality using lots of local produce. Beautiful setting and the booths made using the old kirk pews and bespoke designed furniture all create a welcoming and special place for a breakfast, lunch or cuppa and cake!
Got a great tour from Leanne to the behind the scenes making of the jewellery, really brought to life how the pieces are so valuable and you can tell the company has a great organisational culture.
The food in the cafe was also top notch.
This place was fabulous. Great shop, with crafts from other makers too. Cafe was super, such style and tastefully decorated. The staff were all friendly and chatty even though we turned up at 4pm. Highly recommend.
We visited a couple of times this week.
Good coffee and lots of cake choices on both visits. We had lunch today & my wife particularly enjoyed her gluten free crab roll with a fresh salad.
The jewellery selection is individual, attractive and eye catching. We bought some earrings and a brooch to mark our time in Orkney. Friendly and helpful staff.
A wonderful little stop if you are traveling close to that location. One of the best uses for a church that I have ever seen! Full of beautiful jewelry, art and coffee and desserts. The staff are outstanding. Well worth seeking out.
Lovely staff - efficient and very friendly. We just had a drink of tea so can't comment on the food, although the cakes looked v good. The conversion of the church into a cafe and showrooms has been done very tastefully. Looking forward to another visit with more time.
