We had lovely weather so sat outside.
We had zebra & crocodile steak. Both with lovely sauce and some veggies. Wish there was bit of more chips though.
But the flavours were nice of both dishes.
And then delish brownie and cheescake.
Would defo recommend.

Went for Saturday evening food, didn't book, managed to get a table, sat outside as a nice warm evening. Had the south Africa taster menu, was good to try something new. Asked for a blanket when the sun went down, as they have a sign saying to ask - good idea.
Pretty busy. It's local to me, not been before, would go again... I can Recommend this pub.

Food was great, small but good wine selection however the service is were the review lost a star.
Might need more training as could not answer the questions about the food and we needed to ask to the member of staff to go to the kitchen and ask.
Portions were nice and big would definitely go back a must try is the Trinchada!

We stopped here on a Britstop Friday evening we arrived at about 8:45pm on our way to Cornwall from oxford and although the kitchen closed at 9pm they still managed to give us a lovely meal to fill us up and we had a couple of drinks in the bar afterwards with some of the locals in a really nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back…. Probably on the way home.

We had a lovely walk along the canal and across the fields with our friends and dogs and stopped here for Sunday lunch. Cannot fault the service, staff or food, they were all top notch, we cannot wait to return to try the South Africa taster menu .🐾🐾🐾🐾

Nice tasters menu. Worth a visit.
Warning...don't rely on the postcode as it's not very accurate.

The 10 pound burger and beer/wine on a Wednesday night was excellent value.
Peter the host runs a great establishment with some good beer, great atmosphere and lovely staff. The place which is in the middle of nowhere was packed and certainly celebrates the wonderful South African heritage of it's owner.
We will be back.....

Definitely an unusual pub - it looks normal, but on the menu you might find zebra or crocodile! The chef is South African and that is reflected in the cuisine.
Started with the whitebait, which was some of the crispiest I've ever had, and absolutely delicious. Came with a little fresh salad. I have to say, the main courses didn't quite live up to the start. I got the Durban beef curry, which I rathed enjoyed. It was very rich and dark, with tender beef. Satisfying on a warm day. My fiance got the zebra burger, and it was really disappointing. The small burger was dwarfed by the bun, it was very tough meat, and it just looked thin and shrivelled sitting there. Definitely skip that one.
Menu is hit or miss, but because it's so unique, I'd say worth a visit if you're in the area.

Formerly known as the Monkton Inn, I recently visited this establishment hidden away in a village just outside Somerset's County Town.
In its previous incarnation I'd have rated this as 3* - middle of the road - but with the change of management I found both the food selection and service to be significantly improved. The menu has frequent guest appearances from South African viands like Wildebeest and Sprinbok, as a consquence of the chef's homeland.
Well worth a visit if in the area.

The Monkton Inn is a great place to eat, offering value for money and quality, which is not often found together!
The food is fantastic with them using fresh, local ingredients.
The chalk board has plenty of starters and main courses with a good range of choice.
The service is friendly and super efficient Oh, and the puddings are so totaly to die for!
