The Best Restaurant In Gloucestershire!!. My wife and i eat here on regular occasions.

The food is simply the best.

A nice varied menu, not overpriced, very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

My Great Grandfathers is a small (around 25 covers) restaurant with a fantastic menu and an even better Chef.

I would thouroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a nice top quality meal.

Visited with my wife on a Saturday night. I booked a table via their website which was easy to do and received confirmation quickly. First impressions... We walked in and were immediately greeted by staff and promptly seated, the restaurant is very small perhaps 6 tables in the front room (didn't see the back room) and 1 chef. The decor is simple but pleasant with quiet music in the background. The menu had quite a large variety, especially as there is only one chef. This however did not affect the time it took to bring our food out. To start I ordered the Prawn Cocktail... Which was MASSIVE! This was by far the largest prawn cocktail I have ever encountered, it was very tasty too, with a good mix or prawns, salad and sauce. If anything maybe a little too large for a starter. For mains we ordered the Surf and Turf and Lamb Shank. The fillet steak was ordered medium rare and came out cooked to perfection with one very large prawn on top. The lamb shank was delicious, the meat just fell off the bone, all the food was very well presented too a real credit to the chef. For dessert we decided to simply share some ice-cream which is all made in house. Again this was delicious and I would visit again just for the ice-cream! Price wise I feel that £75 is a little expensive for 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert and a few drinks, but for the quality and quantity served I would happily pay that again. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone, I will definitely visit again! Thank you for a wonderful meal.

I’ve been here several times and never been disappointed by anything. The food here is out of this world! Everything is homemade and you can tell by the quality and depth of flavours. The service is top-notch too, so friendly. Atmosphere is cosy without being stifling. Me and my boyfriend will be back.. Parking is easy as there’s a large car park opposite near the abbey. Prices are very good too.

What a superb restaraunt from the moment we walked in we were welcomed. The service was excellent & nothing was to much trouble. From the starters to the desserts our food was delicious perfectly cooked, lovely flavours & beautifully presented. We had three of our grandchildren with us who choose their own meals which were cooked for individually for them & they got served first which was a lovely touch. Can I find fault? No it was the perfect place to have our Golden Wedding Celebration. We can't thank you enough.

Lovely Anniversary Dinner. Lovely service and atmosphere - enhanced by the great choice of music. The food was excellent especially the vegetarian food which had been cooked especially for me. When I booked and said I was veggie but didn't eat goats cheese the chef rang to discuss the options. A lovely evening out

This is definitely a restaurant you should visit went with my wife the soup starter with the small freshly baked loaf is just perfect to start off your meal great touch. The steak, fish cake my favourite the cheese soufflé was all spot on flavour and textures will definitely be coming back to eat here again and considering its a 3 hr journey that should say something about how good the food is and the front of house staff are so welcoming and friendly makes for a very nice atmosphere

Great Great Grandfathers! The lamb was excellent and so was the service. Loved the crème brûlée too. The complimentary dish before starters was a nice touch. You pay a little more but get a lot more back. Delicious. Just watch out for the Belgian bottled ale at £6.50 a throw :-)

A superb dining experience! This gastronomic boutique is run by a husband and wife combo who are extremely enthusiastic about their restaurant. The welcome is warm and friendly. The food is really very, very good. I managed, in addition to the delicate Amuse Bouche, Chicken Liver Parfait followed by the Chunky Cod Filet and to finish off the Creme Brule. It was all well thought through, well prepared and extremely well presented. A truly memorable dining experience that I will endeavour to repeat in the not too distant future, even though we live in Kent! If you are ever in Tewkesbury or even within a 10 mile radius I strongly recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed
