It was late lunchtime (1.45pm today), when we arrived at The Wellington hidden away in Feltwell a mid West Norfolk village. In truth perhaps arriving late on a mid-week day our expectations might have been rather low. However everything about this popular pub/restaurant is a little bit exceptional. Firstly the establishment is a shrine to the Wellington WW2 Bomber Plane - I don't expect you would find more memorabilia anywhere else outside the Imperial War Museum! That said there is a really comfortable bar and a separate restaurant which is very much upmarket 'officers mess' perhaps a little old fashioned but impeccably furnished and like the rest of the establishment incredibly clean and well presented. So interesting, comfortable, welcoming, made us fell welcome, How about the food? They have a really good menu with basics you would expect from a pub, sandwiches, burgers, ham eggs and chips, sausage and mash, etc, to more adventurous daily specials. This makes it sound ordinary but the care, quality ingredients, and execution of these basic dishes set the Wellington well above its pub-grub competition. In some respects very Tom Kerridge! I had an excellent Steak and Kidney Suet Pudding, perfectly done really tasty filling outstanding in fact, (choice of veg and gravy on the side) My wife ate every scrap of her Smoked Haddock Fillet with Horseradish Mash on a bed of Spinach, topped with a poached egg and Hollandaise Sauce - she is quite a fussy eater and again I have to repeat that word it was excellent. Well done Wellington! Keep up the good work. Thank you.

We happened upon this venue on TripAdvisor as we were down in Thetford from West Yorkshire for our granddaughter’s birthday. Such a hidden gem. I did phone ahead to book but it wasn’t necessary. Such a friendly welcome from the owners and locals, the food and beer was great, interspersed with information about the area famed for the RAF connection from the hosts. Great value for money, a huge menu to choose from and such a friendly welcome. I agree with the comments about the deco, it could do with an update, but otherwise perfect.

Good enough food. Nice Brie tart and fish and chips. Decor was quite outdated and not to our taste. Was sort of like having dinner in your nans living room. Really friendly staff who gave us information about the area and what to do during our stay. Good value to money.

Me and my family along with a couple of friends visited for lunch following good reviews on TripAdvisor....We were not disappointed. Starters were all very reasonably priced and yummy. Main meals were a decent size, everyone in enjoyed their food. Dessert was good but we did think they were quite small for the £6 we paid, however, that was the only negative. Pool room next door was a great place for the children to play while waiting for food. We would return.

We have had our staff Christmas dinner at The Wellington multiple years and they make it so easy to book and organize a large group event. The menu options, planning, decoration, and service are all excellent! I highly recommend for large group events and Christmas parties!

Sunday lunch, with a good choice of options, was both delicious and reasonably priced. A separate dining room to the bar. Very attentive and friendly staff. Good experience. Deserves patronage. We will return!

My boyfriend and I are staying in the area as we are working in raf lakenheath, we decided to go out for dinner and was not disappointed! Chris, who we were told was the owner, was excellent! At first we were told the restaurant was fully booked until 20:30 so we said thats fine we will eat then, it was 18.15 at this point but we didn't mind the wait as didn't book and it was very busy. Then Chris came up to us and said he could probably get us in for 18.45, even better! Then he returned and said they can fit us in now! We were sat down and eating by 18.30! I had the homemade steak and kidney suet pudding which was amazing! The portions are very generous, and the gravy is yummy, (major gravy fan here!) Chris and the other guy behind the bar, who I believe to be the other owner made us feel very welcome, we will definitely be visiting again next week! Definitely didn't expect to find a place like this in such a small village, cant remember the last place I went where the service, food, atmosphere were all 10/10! Thanks for a great evening, made celebrating our 2 year anniversary even more special 😀

The Wellington is a favourite for a family dinner out with friends. For our dinner today our children were planning their meal selections at breakfast. The service is always friendly and humour-filled. We can not recommend enough. Have never had a bad meal there.

We went twice whilst staying in Feltwell. Sunday lunch was delicious and dinner on Friday night equally good. Local beers on tap and friendly and welcoming staff. Loved it here!

We were a family gathering of eight. Unfortunately, two people were running about 10 minutes late, and we then had to hang around to be seated with a choice of a very cramped, busy bar or (as we chose) the room with the pool table. The menu is varied and suits meat, fish and veggie/vegan eaters. There is a separate vegan menu. The waiter, Christopher, was very chatty and informative at first, but later became over-familiar and kept butting into our conversations. His enthusiasm for good service needs to be tamed. Our family get together was for us (we hadn't all seen each other for a long time). Everyone enjoyed the food.

My wife and I live in Norwich and we needed a convenient venue to meet some friends staying at Centre Parcs at Elveden. We consulted good old Google and found ‘The Wellington’ and it sounded ideal. I am very pleased to say that we were not disappointed, the pub was brilliant, lovely and clean and well looked after and packed with memorabilia relating to it’s namesake the great WW2 bomber. There was a choice of two good real ales on offer in the bar which were well looked after. We were a party of four adults and two 12 year old girls and Chris and his friendly staff made us all very welcome, nothing was too much trouble The food from a really good menu selection was excellent and all served up nice and hot. All in all ‘The Wellington’ turned out to be perfect for our needs and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I think the good people of Feltwell should count themselves very lucky to have such a great pub right on their doorstep.

This place is great for the history of the Wellington bombers but also for incredible food. For a fancy meal with friends this is the place to go!

Enjoyed Sunday Lunch at The Wellington last Sunday, where Chris and Chris were perfect hosts. The food was of excellent quality, and the price very reasonable. Ales were beautifully kept, service was prompt. We'll be back!

Great pub. We went for food which was great but lovely to see the bar and games room busy as well. Delicious main courses, good choices from grownups and children, friendly service. Would go again.

Have been meaning to try the Wellington for some time,so two of us had lunch yesterday. We were the only ones eating and were very well looked after by a very nice and efficient young lady. The menu is very extensive and has some different items that you would not normally find in similar establisments. We both chose the fish and chips which was excellent in all respects. The batter was really first class very light and tasty, and the fish was firm and flaky. We had no room for a desert, but will try and leave enough room the next time we visit.

On a short break from Cornwall, we found this pub on the internet. The choice of ales is always changing and a right balance of light and darker ales which are very well kept indeed. The food was excellent and the service from the restaurant staff was exceptional. We appreciated the landlord's (Chris) warm welcome and kind words. If you are within range of this pub, don't miss it. This pub is everything a great pub should be and, from what we saw, a thriving community hub too. Alas, few pubs in Britain come anywhere near the high standards encountered here. With best wishes. Corinne and Lionel.
