Review The Reform Inn - Thorncliffe

We've been here a few times in the past, and the food is always so tasty. I'm on a mission to try more and more stuff every time we go. The chicken Stilton and the cheese and leek bake are definitely my favourite foods here. Both are so amazing and just melt in your mouth.

Quite an odd experience the initial welcoming was friendly and cheerful and they were more than happy to heat the Brie starter a bit more as it was initially served still solid, I had the whitebait which was lovely but both main courses were a bit lacking, the steak was cooked unevenly and a bit bland, my wife’s salmon was nice but the sauce it came with was probably one of the sweetest things I have ever tasted. The lasting memory will be the look on the waitress face after we told her we had no space for dessert, it was almost like we had insulted her.

Wow, What a find, already booked for tomorrow too. Superb food, some of the best I've eaten out this year. Prawn Thermador was amazing as a starter, absolutely delicious. Good service in a lovely environment with exceptional food, whats not to like. 😋 Highly recommend 👌

A really nice place in a small country village but easy to find. The traditional stone build is nice and the interior has retained a charm with wooden beams and traditional flooring. Large selection of draught drinks. Hand pulled ales lagers and ciders. The menu also has a wide range of choices. The steak and ale pie is very good with plenty of good meaty chunks. Served with seasonal vegetables that included too many to mention. With the pleasant staff we had a nice leisurely lunch. Definitely worth a visit. We have already booked a return visit this Saturday. There is also an extensive outside eating area - the lion's den!

Wow, what a great place and a great meal, the whole group were delighted with our meals. A superb selection across the menu. I had the black pudding bon bons to start, delicious followed by the steak and ale pie, which was packed full of beef, unlike some others I've had! The staff were very helpful and attentive, couldn't ask for better service!

The food was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. We have been here several times when visiting friends in Stoke and always look forward to coming to this great and cosy restaurant. Love it here.

Went on last Saturday for lunch after seeing the great reviews. Plenty of car parking space. staff are friendly and professional. But it took more than 15 minutes to take down our order. Which was not that great. Management need to hire more staff during busy time over the weekend. But that can be forgiven as the food came out was amazing. I ordered chicken Tarragon which was one of the best dishes I had in a British pub. The highlight of the day was the cheesecake with hot custard. It was the best one I had so far. Definitely recommend this place.

What a fabulous place! Walked up hill from a CL 1.3miles away. Gorgeous evening, so sat outside. Dog friendly. Staff were accommodating, friendly and the service was excellent. Meals were exceptional in presentation and taste. (Salmon, sea bass and gammon dishes) A busy evening with parties but staff were exemplary in their attention to detail. Would highly recommend and look forward to a revisit.

Myself and my partner regularly visit the reform for a date night and every time it turns out to be a lovely evening. The whole place is cosy and very well presented as well as all the staff being attentive and friendly. The prices are very reasonable and the food is fantastic. Tonight I had soup of the day which was roasted peppers and tomatoes which was beautiful, followed by lamb shank. It was cooked beautifully and the flavour of the red wine sauce with vegetables was spot on. My partner had the rump steak and it was massive and cooked perfectly. The peppercorn sauce was spot on also and overall the evening meal was fab. I would highly recommend this destination to anyone who likes good quality food in a great atmosphere.

Came here as it was rated so highly. Plenty of booking slots available even at fairly short notice and it was easy to find with plenty of parking. Easy to book online as well and to add, branding on the website and inside is on point. Food prices very reasonable and drinks were also not outrageous e.g. regular orange juice was £2. The food was nice with large portions so good value for money and the pub was clean and tidy. I’ve given 4 stars because although the food was nice - there wasn’t really anything special about it. They had a large table of people in when we arrived and so service was a little slow. We assumed it would get better when the table left but it actually just got worse. Despite there being a few staff sitting around talking to each other at the bar, we were given a dessert menu and sat there for 20 mins waiting to order some sundaes. When nobody passed by for us to order or ask for the bill, we gave up and just went to the bar to pay, leaving the dessert menus on the table. Not sure if they noticed - doubt anyone did to be honest, but it was a bit of a disappointing experience given the previous high ratings. You can’t expect high rated places on Google to always be 100% spot on, just felt it was nice but not a 5* on the day we went.

The perfect example of a well run country pub. We ate here twice during a weekend in the Peak District. Both the normal menu and the Sunday menu wowed us. Portions are generous and food is outstanding quality. Very dog friendly and the staff and owners are among some of the loveliest people you could ever wish to meet. Keep up the good work guys, you are smashing it!

We had a lovely family meal here celebrating my mum's birthday. Considering it was a Saturday night and there was 6 of us we were served really quickly and the staff seemed really friendly and even though it was busy. The pub itself is set in such beautiful countryside and my 1 year old daughter loved all the Safari animals dotted around 🦓

Great service very friendly staff. Food great. My husband wanted two starters for main. No problem. Came out with my main. Asked for a cheese board. I didn't see on menu. Lovely fresh cheese, grapes. Etc. Great experience overall.

What can I say.. Food was excellent! Our party of 5 each ordered different meals and we all commented on how good the food was.. Service.. The lady who served us was amazing, we never felt rushed nor did we feel neglected as her timing was perfect. As for the dessert, I’m finding it difficult to comment because if I tell you it was probably the BEST cheesecake I’ve ever eaten, then there may not be any left for next time we go.😉

A lovely Sunday evening visit with my wife and youngest daughter. Staff were so nice and we all enjoyed a delicious dinner. 1st time here but we'll definitely be returning.

Our lunch time experience was excellent. The premises are full of character and with friendly staff, good food and beer at a reasonable price what more could you ask for. Very impressed that we were asked if we had any allergies before ordering. Will return.

Visited here whilst on a trip with my partner. Really good atmosphere with what seemed like plenty of locals. Food and drink selection is really good. If we ever pass by again will definitely return. Highly reccomend to anyone in the area.

Was a fantastic evening here. The menu was refreshing, nice to see lots of tempting offers rather than the same old menu choices. Not only that though, the quality of food, was very good! Had the beef, cooked perfectly and the sauce was very flavoursome. Good choice of beers and wines available too. Had been before, but didn't realise there was outdoor seating available! Highly recommended.

Really accommodating to our party needs and very happy to help! We have been a couple of times and have always had a lovely meal! Highly recommend amazing food at a reasonable price!

Went tonight for the first time since it had been taken over . I was super impressed with the food . Great taste and presentation . Cant fault this place and an excellent play list . A lovely warm and welcoming pub thank you to all the staff for a lovely evening .

Never been here in years and I must say very impressed The pub is beautiful inside and nicely decorated for xmas It's steak night so £10 , food was fabulous ! Service was fabulous ! Very impressed and will definately be going again and recommending to others .

Good value 3 course Sunday lunch. Other menu items available and lots of dessert choices. We came on 4/2/18 and were here 1-3, staff were a bit thin on the ground but all busy, service was good but could have been more attentive, had to wait a while for drinks ordered but nothing major. Would definitely come back.

Went for the first time for a birthday meal .....it was recommended by loads of people and it certainly lived up to expectations......food was first class, the staff were so helpful but not pushy , and the pub had a great warm,welcoming atmosphere.....we will certainly be returning.....thank you for making the night a great night �

We’ve just had a fabulous afternoon at this fantastic pub! The food was AWSOME and the staff were excellent! They even sorted a lift home for us. �. A deffinate must visit. We’ll be back soon.

I was taken there for a birthday treat and had the best fillet steak stroganoff I have ever tasted. Thank you for a beautiful meal, served by lovely, friendly staff.

Visited for the second time yesterday. The food is probably the best pub food I've ever had, full of flavour, cooked to perfection & piping hot. Staff are very friendly and service definitely always comes with a smile. Great pub, can't wait to return!

Four of us went Saturday night for a meal. Very impressed. Food was top notch. The refurbishment is very nice and complements the old. Staff are very helpful. Will definitely return.
