The Old Forge Seafood Restaurant

Visited here as part of a group of 6, the day after seeing the Thursford Christmas show. It's a fish restaurant and at the owners recommendation we chose the meal of the day. Fish soup, Sea Bream with potatoes and mixed veg, with chocolate profiteroles for dessert £24.50 plus drinks. Very good food and company, although the room was a little cold.

We were visiting Norfolk with friends from Canada who love seafood and were lucky to get a table at The Old Forge as it's often full! We all enjoyed our meals, liked the fact that this is a small, family-run restaurant with friendly service, had a good chat with owner and chef Colin and felt that our dinner was good value for money. If we're up this way again will definitely be back!

We was very lucky to get a last minute table at this restaurant as we were on holiday nearby. The service was delightful and friendly. The seafood was so fresh and it was from a local fisherman. We had freshly baked bread from the chef with garlic Aioli. The oysters was juicy and the diver scallops in garlic and parsley butter were massive and cooked perfectly. For our mains we had baked crevettes, mussels, and scallops in a garlic and parsley butter with a extra lobster tail and a half baked lobster with cheese and lobster sauce. When the food arrived I was very surprised at the size of the lobster, it was almost bigger than my plate. The half lobster was very meaty and sweet and cooked spot on. You can tell the chef takes great pride in his restaurant and makes the time to go around and chat with every customer. We had a lovely evening.

Wow, was that a superb meal or what. Top quality food, beautifully cooked, so so tasty. A phenomenal chef (Colin), with a great team working with him. That has to be up there amongst the best seafood meals we've ever had, and it was chance that we went there. So pleased that chance played a hand in it for us. Do try it - if you love fish, you will not be disappointed.

We visited the seafood restaurant and I can easily say that the food was lovely. The interior was cosey, if a little old style, but the seafood itself was like it was just caught there and then. I would have preferred to sit at the table while the food was being prepared and not in the waiting area where people were coming and going. The chef made his rounds to every table making sure they were happy with their meals which I felt was a lovely touch. Obviously they are proud of what they do and want to make sure people are enjoying their food. All in all, a lovely small cosey place with good seafood.

Very nice food, very intimate, could have done with a little more time between courses to digest and enjoy. Husband thought chairs uncomfortable but can't say I shared this view. We had a table next to the kitchen and so there was constant walk through, but two other tables were free away from this area all evening, so unsure why we were placed here, especially as we booked four days ahead. Worth visiting for a special occasion, as not cheap, it was our wedding anniversary but although I mentioned it on booking and we didn't expect any privileges, it would have been nice to be wished a Happy Anniversary. Think I must be old school! 🤔

Had a fantastic meal. The food is top notch and the whole ambience of this little gem of a place is fantastic. Also I must say what lovely owners Colin ( the chef) and his wife are who made time to have a chat with us. Will be returning again soon to have the lovely Prawn cocktail starter and Monk fish again it's was simply delicious.
