Review The Olde Malthouse Inn - Tintagel

Nick Ferris
Visited for Sunday lunch. It took a little bit of explaining from our very patient and friendly lady staff member about the Sunday lunch sharing platter. But when it arrived the food was very good and the option of more veg was a nice touch. Have no hesitation in recommending or returning when we are in the area .

Delicious food, wonderful staff. Elevated pub fare, hubby declared his burger the best he has had in ages. Chips were super crispy and halloumi fries were extra yummy. Loved the whole experience, thank you!

The best roast I’ve had in a LONG time. The standard was higher than we’d ever expected and so lovely to have a sharing platter. The perfect cosy setting after a long walk, accompanied by warm, friendly and very quick service.

Only came here for dinner on our last night at Tintagel. Very glad I booked a table as it was very busy and I can see why. It's a very nice pub. Food was superb! We keep mentioning how good the food was as we ate. I have not seen such large mussels in a very long time. The dessert was also delicious. Compliments to the chief! I highly recommend this pub if anyone is even in the vicinity of Tintagel!! But I recommend booking in advance. Must come back if I am in this area of Cornwall.

Excellent service from all the staff. It was very booked up and they managed to squeeze us in with two tables. We absolutely loved the the food, was out of this world! This was my first time trying muscles and it was an insane experience, it was most delicious meal and the broth was extraordinary. It was definitely the best muscles I’ve ever had but the whole table agreed !!!

Super friendly waitress who was brilliant with us. Explained there could be quite a wait for food due to some large parties, but actually the wait was completely reasonable. Thought it might be a bit of a tourist trap, however, we all thoroughly enjoyed our food and was all high quality - the mussels in particular were absolutely huge and you get loads of them! Very impressed.

My friend and I stumbled on this pub following our walk exploring the coastline and castle. . The first thing we noticed was that the venue was very popular, which is a good sign. . On entering the pub we were made to feel very welcome by the two lads working behind the bar and both knew how to welcome tourists to the pub and make you feel at home. . We only planned to have a drink, but after seeing the food and seeing how amazing the staff were serving other customers we decided to stay for dinner. So glad we did, the waghu burger was amazing and the best I've had for a while. . Great pub and just what you need after a long walk. Go take a look.

The crab was really good, food in general was tasty, desserts were really good. There was an issue with one of our orders and the waitress Penny sorted it out ,she's very lovely and made our dining experience great. A good place to eat

The pub was not busy for this review. But our experience was great. Our food was delicious and well presented. Not the cheapest food but definitely quality. We had the bowl of mussels, and the crispy seafood combo. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent.

Called in for a meal last minute, and can only say what excellent service the pub was very busy, the chap at the bar soon managed to find us a table. With in no time we had ordered or meal and not long after food arrived, food was excellent!! service by the staff was first class!!. Thanks to all for your courteous service...a must if you visit Tintagel.

I spent an afternoon here with my dad while my sickeningly able-bodied brother went to explore the castle. I nearly took out 2 of the bar staff doing my frozen shoulder exercises in the snug, and they were both very gracious about the loony lady waving her arm about behind her. All the staff I spoke to were lovely. Next time I'm in Cornwall I hope to sample the food, which looked amazing.

We just had a drink here. The bar maid was cheerful and knew a lot about the local beers. With her help we made a great choice. Beer and lager was beautiful.

Really nice food, totally different from your normal pub food. Style as well as taste. Plus the beers, top draw. The gold was just stunning, only 3.8% but how real ale should be. As long as we can get transport back into Tintagel tomorrow, we'll be back again.

Great location, right in the centre and just a stone's throw from the path to the beach & castle. Nice clean room. Staff were excellent in all ways. Couldn't be more welcoming and helpful. Ate in the restaurant and food was great. So was breakfast.

Delicious food and great staff! The ingredients are locally sourced with local condiments on the side! #loveit The Mussels are St Austell Bay Mussels. Gorgeously plump and succulent! My five spice chicken was topped with homemade peanut butter. Very tasty, lovely and tender. Great location!

Really good local beers, great service, excellent food and atmosphere. Couldn't get what we saw on the website menu, so went for the fish and chips instead and were not disappointed. Possibly the best fish and chips we've ever had in England!

We had our wedding reception here and the day was perfect. The staff went above and beyond to make it the best day possible! The food was amazing and the location is just magical. Can't wait to return in 2024 so we can visit again. Thanks everyone!

We had lunch there and remarked amongst us how good the customer service was. Nothing was to much of a problem and it was service with a smile in all incredibly historical building. Great food too!

Lovely quaint and delightful place with fabulous food and great service , very hospitable.Called here for refreshment after a visit to Tintagel castle with son , other half and our lovely beagle. The interior was quaint and authentic , lovely stone walls , flagstone floors which I m sure our dog appreciated after a long walk in the heat, one of the sunnier warmer days than of late. Lots of quirky features , particularly the toilet doors . The food was really good , tasty , well cooked and presented and the lady who served us was lovely , really friendly. This place is a delight There is also plenty of outside seating and the location was great.
