Quizzical Myth

Lovely quiet place to eat , the food was amazing and some of the best chips we have tasted. Over the family we sampled a burger, fishcakes , and pies all of which were delicious. The staff were really friendly and made us feel really welcome and their service was very quick. There is also the option to take food out or eat in and if you eat in there is access to toilets.

Freshly prepared fish and chips made to order by friendly and cheerful staff. We only waited a few minutes for our order to be cooked, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. My small fish and chips was just the right size, my husbands regular fish was perfect for him. We will definitely return.

My favourite chippy in the bay, I stop by often for dinner. I visited with my family this past Bank Holiday Sunday. 3 lovely ladies were working extremely hard to cope with the crowd of people coming from Babbacombe Downs being the only chippy open here on a Sunday. We were one of the last to be served before they ran out of fish and potatoes! They were very polite and apologetic to the people they sadly had to turn away. Drakes is always our go-to takeaway and we are never disappointed with their delicious food and outstanding service. 10/10 yet again!

We were down on holiday and looking for somewhere to have some real fresh fish 'n' chips. Great little place, when we came out there was a big queue so we were not the only ones that like Drakes fish & chips.

Well eventually I got to try the fish and chips from Drakes. Great young fella took my order. They have some really high quality local competition in Babbacombe. The regular chips come in a separate box and are a lovely taste. The fish in batter looked amazing as did the cod inside. At first I was really enjoying the fish and golden batter but eventually the fish flesh began to fall into small bits making it difficult to eat on the provided fork. The end of the fish consisted of very dry Fish and batter. Resulting in the one seagull nearby getting that bit. For me to not finish fish is rare so I have to score a 4. Putting Drakes behind its completion in my eyes. Still better than anything near where i currently live.

We were looking for a quality fish and chips shop and we definitely found it. Drakes of Babbacombe was amazing. The lady behind the till was so warm and welcoming inviting us to sit in the restaurant part. Food arrived freshly cooked and piping hot. Tasty fish and chips with side order of mushy peas and curry sauce- delicious. She chatted to us and made us feel so welcome. Thank you. We’ll see you soon.

Drake's is a lovely place to come to. The customer service was impeccable, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. You really get the sense that it is a busy chippy, and the staff there have time for each customer. You can eat in or take away (although I ordered to take away) and whilst my order was being prepared, I got to sit in the dining area which was a nice touch. I've not got a bad word to say about Drake's. You should definately try it if you haven't done so already.
