Had a nice weekend break here, the reception area, dining and entertainment areas were well presented, but as soon as you go through to the rooms, it changes these areas could do with a lick of paint but overall the staff were very helpful and walking distance to Babbacome downs.
Thanks for a good stay

A 2 star hotel with a 5 star feel
Yes, ok, a few places need a lick of paint and a tidy up,
but overall, the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and warm if basic, the food plentiful and hot, three choices of evening meal all good honest food, I really couldn't fault it
Beds are comfortable, bar area spacious, prices not too bad, a little bit more than we normally pay, but then we're Northerners, the grounds are a pleasant area to sit out in, weather permitting, I would definitely recommend

A great sized hotel that is in a prime location of picturesque Babbacombe that has plenty of free road parking, plus good bus links into Torquay, Paignton,Teignmouth & Dawlish.
I had a friendly check in with the lovely young lady on the reception desk & my single room was absolutely perfect for me, very clean and tidy but unfortunately I cannot recommend any of the food as compared to my previous visit before their fire last year, I found the evening meals very basic, not very warm & very underwhelming with limited food choices, no desserts replenished once they ran out either, for breakfast there was plenty of cereal & bread to make toast in several of the industrial machines plus orange juice, but once again limited hot food that I found very tepid & extremely greasy & not cooked to my liking, as the bacon was very undercooked yet the fried eggs were rock hard, very disappointing but I would stay again but next time without any meals included as I found them a complete waste of time & money.

A great budget hotel with live entertainment.
Helpful friendly staff.
The rooms done the job, they were clean and comfortable, we slept well.
Excellent value.

Nice hotel. Not too far of a walk away from the coach station, although part of the walk was quite steep. Offers breakfast and dinner aswell as activties for an addition cost. I was however woken up by two fire alarms, within 10 minutes of each other, in the middle of the night during my last night there, which was quite disorientating.

We stayed a couple of weeks ago and found the hotel very good value, staff friendly and food was fine. The receptionist (Sophie I think) even lent me her lighter on two occasions!

Absolutely couldn't fault our stay at the Trecarn Hotel.
We stayed as part of a National coach holiday's party.
The room was a good size, clean and well maintained.
The location is perfect for a Torbay visit. With a very regular bus service in either direction within a short stroll of the hotel
The food was great for the price of the stay. Plenty of it and a good choice.
As a coeliac I'm incredibly weary of buffet meals. However I was well catered for at every meal and would gladly stay here again.
I would like to give a big shout out to Jenny of the catering team for making the time to answer my questions at every meal during our stay.
For arranging my dessert. Despite being incredibly busy with the amount of people staying during our visit.
She is a credit to the hotel.

If you want polished marble floors and gold taps, go elsewhere. If you want good-sized, well serviced rooms and friendly staff, stay here. Yes, it's a bit tired in places, but the windows in the dining area and furnishings in the public areas seemed new, so investment in infrastructure is clear. No off-road parking, but I found a spot just outside the rear entrance. Check-in was swift and I (solo traveller) had been allocated a twin room with window. Windowless rooms are available but are charged at the same rate, so I suggest calling the hotel direct if windows are a must. Rooms are clean, if a bit 'tired' but came with fan, hairdryer, iron & board, spare pillows and blanket, kettle and assorted drinks sachets. The shower can go to HOT! (More on that later).
Dinner is bog standard batch cooked fare, salad bar, and a selection of cakes. Saying that, it was fresh & and tasty, and staff kept an eye and refilled asap. Breakfast : toast, cereal, fruits, and full English. Food is buffet style. Waiting staff were attentive and cleared tables quickly and efficiently.
Entertainment for my 2 days was 'pub singer'. They were both great, sang a wide range, took requests and engaged with the audience. Bear in mind that the audience plays a big part of the enjoyment. Make the best of it :)
The fire alarm. Sounded at 6:20am because someone had their shower on hot, with the door open and extractor off. To respond to some travellers moans - The fire alarm isn't faulty because steam triggered it. That means it's working fine. They're sensitive to give time to evacuate such a large and maze-like building.
Staff didn't do a headcount because 1, a quick glance outside would clearly show less than half the residents had followed the fire procedures and evacuated, and 2, because they were ascertaining if the alarm was to an actual fire or not.
The staff quickly and efficiently dealt with the situation, explained to residents, apologised, and we were allowed back inside after about 10 minutes. Reception staff informed me they have had a fire recently and this went to prove that residents don't read the safety and fire instructions given on arrival.
PLEASE. In the event of the fire alarm sounding, please treat as a fire and follow instructions, and don't blame the staff in the event of a false alarm.
To round up the hotel is great, cheap & definitely cheerful. I would definitely visit again.
