Love going to this cafe and the food, drink and the views across the Solent and Totland Bay towards the Needles are wonderful. Can get busy at times but that's because of the above and with plenty of seating there are never any issues I've encountered! Wood burning stove for those cold ❄ days too! From this location you can walk the esplanade to Colwell bay which affords views over towards the lighthouse on the mainland and Fort Albert. Stunning. Visited again July 2021 and sat on the renovated pier. Wonderful.
Amazing setting, great food. Value for money and really friendly service. Parking is a challenge, but if you are ok walking, just park on main road and walk to the bay. Looking forward to my next visit.
A long beautiful smooth pebbled beach featuring a wooden pier and a few large boulders. The beach is located a relatively short drive away from alum bay. The bay cafe itself was not open when we visited, the menu posted outside the front of the restaurant said that the Bay Cafe does not open on Mondays. I'm not sure whether this is just during the summer season or due to covid.
We did spend an hour or so on the beach, enjoying the scenery before leaving. The pier was having some maintenance work completed so was not open to the public.
The sea was clear looking and quite shallow so you could wade out quite far. No lifeguard on duty as far as I could see but some buoys to separate the shallower waters from the deeper waters where the boats have access. The beach itself was quiet with only a few other people dotted around. There was a small carpark with a few paid parking spaces available.
After 6pm the parking was only £1 which we thought was really good value. We spotted another restaurant about ten minutes away but decided to go elsewhere.
Had lunch on the pier and breakfast inside. 5 of us and dog. We all enjoyed both meals (dog had sausage!). Super friendly and efficient staff. And what a view. Wish I could bottle the sound of the waves.
Really lovely cafe great food and very quick service. So much better value than the other restaurant in the next bay. We all really enjoyed our evening and the only thing I would change would be some fruit/coulis and cream with the cheesecake.
Our first visit to this newly-opened bar/café, on the end of the old Totland pier, for breakfast. Straightforward fare; bacon baps, breakfast muffin, eggs Benedict, etc. The food was perfectly tasty and reasonably priced. Lunch menu of chips, various burgers, salads and more.
It's in a lovely setting. The sea was well up, crashing surf all around on one side and the low rugged cliffs on the other, viewed through the wall to wall windows. Staff were very friendly and efficient. This will be a regular stop for us in the future,I think.
Very nice bay good places to eat booking is best parking ok pay machine
We were the first people to have breakfast is the newly renovated cafe and wow was it delicious! I can strongly recommend the bacon roll - no photos as I ate it too quickly! Great coffee, too, and the ice cream hatch with loads of toppings on offer looks perfect for a sunny day at the beach.
We’ll definitely be back and look forward to seeing their exciting plans for a restaurant at the end of the pier come to fruition.
Come and visit - you won’t regret it!
Very nice food. Highly recommended. Close to the sea.
Just what you need when at the beach for the day, good service - the cafe is now closed due to building work on the pier from 2020 onwards.
