Great for a small snack stop in the afternoon! Truly isolated with amazing views. A cute fire and great red squirrel memorabilia! We had some delicious cakes and nice coffee’s to match. Staff were notably nice and friendly - will certainly come again!
Within walking distance from the cottage we are staying in and have driven past The Old Post Office Tearoom daily. Today we are having an end of holiday relaxing day before a 7-8 drive home tomorrow. We thought we should at least give this lovely looking tearoom a visit before we left the lakes and I must say it's always busy, that tells you something. We weren't disappointed with our visit today, a hot sausage roll, toasted fruit bun, flat white coffee and peppermint tea were very enjoyable and prices were good too.
The tearoom is bigger than it looks, seating both inside and out. Full of old collectables and some local art work for sale. Very clean, friendly staff and dog friendly too. No toilet. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area and to all hikers and holiday makers.
Loved the warm, homemade scones with cream and jam, pot of tea for two, and ice cream. Great place to stop after a visit to Townsend or a walk in the hills
Decided to stop off at this fabulous place, after returning from Wansfell Pike (a chap we passed on our walk, told us of how good the bacon sandwiches were!) So we thought we'd give it a try and I'm glad we did! The set up is lovely and very cosy, with the fire gently roaring in the background. Lots of things to look at and admire, and situated in a great location! Luckily there were some gluten free cakes available, so we had a piece of the gluten free carrot cake and then a piece of the Zesty Lemon cake... amazing!!! One of the best slices of lemons cake I've ever had, not to mention a brill hot chocolate! Would highly recommend if you're coming back off a long walk and fancy a bite to eat, or a coffee and a bit of cake after a walk well done! Many thanks to you! 😊👍🏻
We stopped at this random cafe in the middle of Troutbeck and we were delighted to discover they had a vegan lemon drizzle and oat milk options with no extra charge for it.
I'd make it 5 stars with more vegan savoury options!
Very friendly and welcoming tea room with amazing homemade cakes, easily some of the best carrot cake I have ever had. Ice cream and milkshakes also served. Whether you are local to the area or travel to the Lakes: this team room is exactly why you should be supporting local businesses.
Lovely little cosy place, perfect stop ether before or after a walk round the fells. Nice food and drinks at reasonable prices, it's also nice to see that some of the local businesses are also supporting each other.
Great place for coffee, cakes, ice cream etc and reasonably priced soft drinks from the fridge too. We called in here both days while staying in the area as we were that impressed the first day getting a takeaway for our walk we went back for a sit in the 2nd day. Will definitely visit next time we're in the area
We allways walk to the beautiful village of Troutbeck, when holidaying in Ambleside and the Old Post Office Tea Room is a welcome pitstop, before returning over Wansfell Pike. The coffee is lovely and the scones are huge! Lovely friendly staff and reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
We visited on a particularly drizzly Sunday, on a stroll from where we were staying for the long weekend. We arrived dripping wet with a soggy dog, to the cosy, warm tearoom with the fire burning but no free tables. Luckily a table was just getting ready to leave so we were able to sit soon after arriving.
We ordered coffee, hot chocolate and cakes, all of which were delicious and well presented. I particularly enjoyed the scone with jam and cream, and my wife's hot chocolate was so generously sized that I ordered a second flat white whilst she was still drinking her first drink. The other food looked delicious, would definitely try other things from the menu on another visit.
Staff were friendly and helpful, greeting our damp dog and telling stories about some of the interesting decor, after we were amused by the cuckoo clock's chime.
Definitely a perfect place to enjoy a treat and warm up on a damp day, but also well suited to a refreshment stop on a warm day, with the outdoor seating. We were also impressed to see a range of essentials for sale, perfect for those staying or camping nearby,
