The Bull and Butcher has always been one of my favourite places let alone pubs to visit over the years, and our most recent visit today didn’t disappoint. Even though it was unusually busy for a Tuesday afternoon, the two ladies working this afternoon put a great shift in to make sure none of the punters were left wanting. The food was delicious as always (fish and chips and a stacked beef burger were had) and despite being warned of a long wait, due to there being only one hard working lady in the kitchen, our food came promptly and was hot and perfectly cooked. The pub garden is beautiful and a real sun trap that invites hours of enjoying a pint or two with friends and family, and there is always a friendly welcoming atmosphere amongst customers and staff. I personally can’t recommend this place enough. Calm friendly and relaxed atmosphere set in beautiful surroundings, with delicious hearty food, good ales and cider on draft and staff who go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back!

Lovely littly cosy old pub with open fire and wooden beams. We arrived without bookings and were lucky enough to find a table. Service was good and fast. We had Sunday roast, a chicken and a fabulous vegetarian option. Portions were huge and they had some welcomed twists like the cheesy cauliflower and a dollop of butternut squash mash. Two minor suggestions: food could have been hotter and the veggie loaf was a tad dry however this didn't spoil the lovely meal and gave me an excuse to induke in the cranberry sauce. No room for puddings. We'll definitely come back to sample the deserts! Don't miss this little gem!

We went to The Bull & Butcher yesterday for the first time on the recommendation of friends and was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly took our drink order and explained to us that all the food was home cooked so the wait would be about 40 minuets, we was not disappointed when our food arrived. We will definitely be going back

Lovely Michelle looked after us very well. We're sorry we were a bit loud. The food was amazing and it was lovely and welcoming in the bar area. Can't beat a fire to provide a cosy inside when it's wintry outside. Such a lovely way to celebrate our friend Ursula's 50th. Highly recommend it.

Great pub in a beautiful village. Catered for a family birthday after we'd done a trial run the week before. Great food and drink. Love the indoor 'well' that's a feature table. Really good freshly prepared food but generous portions- the Venison burger a personal recommendation!

Went to the Bull and Butcher for the first time in years today and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our afternoon/evening!! The food was incredible, it really showed that it was made by someone who loves what they do and cares a lot about getting it right. The staff were welcoming and incredibly friendly, even though they were busy, it didn't affect their service or their smiles! Absolutely worth the 40mile journey - thank you to the new owners for bringing the pub back to life!!

Good Friday and it definitely was. We went for a walk up to the windmill and got back a little early for our table which was no problem, we were seated straight away by very welcoming and friendly staff who bought our drinks over right away. Our food came promptly and nothing was to much trouble. What a wonderful and friendly pub. We will definitely be coming back soon.

It's a great little pub that's obviously trapped in the tide of passing tourist and walkers, but welcomes everyone like they were locals and been drinking there for year's. The "award winning pies" are well worthy of the title, gorgeous! Nice location to kill a couple of hours, good parking if you time it right I'd imagine. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Excellent service from the friendly staff and the pastry pies are fantastic!! I always used to get the puff pastry but the shortcrust is incredible and will be my top choice going forward. Stunning countryside setting and an ideal pitstop after a walk.

The Bull & Butcher:- the film set for mid somer murders in the small village of Turville and the filmed set of good night, Mr Tom the views from the garden is amazing and you can see the windmill of the block buster movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, But on a sad note because of this ramblers parking in the pub car park and not using the this 5 star pub. Shame that a hand full of people do this.

This was my first time visiting the bull and butcher with my husband and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I tired out the lamb and mint shortcrust pie and it exceeded all expectations. My husband also had the steak and ale pie and he hasn’t stopped going on about it since !!! We cant wait to revisit and we will definitely have to bring some of our friends. We were served by a lovely young lady I believe her name was Daisy. She was very polite, extremely helpful when helping us with menu choices and was also very knowledgeable on the pubs history. Would recommended to all friends and is definitely worth a visit !!!!

Delicious food, lovely little pub in an idyllic village. Not cheap, but the quality shines through. Definitely worth a visit for the specialist pies alone!
