We stumbled across this place today after getting lost and decided that as the car park was full and it looked lovely on the outside we thought it's worth a shot. We were not disappointed. The pub is big enough so that you can just walk in and have a Sunday roast without booking. The staff were fab and quick with the food and drinks. A lovely family atmosphere so that when my 4 yr old decided to throw a mini tantrum I didn't get glares, I got looks of empathy. The food was hot and fresh and my little man ate every last bit. Asking for a small jug of gravy for him to finish of his dinner was also no trouble. So pleased we found this pub as it's now a fave place of mine to go and plan to visit again very soon. When for lunch here today with family that were visiting from Canada. The food was amazing from the starters to the desserts. Service was fab too. I would definitely recommend this place.
Menu has great selection - something for everyone, even my fussy teenager! Good atmosphere and service, great food(portions on the large side but that's not a complaint - better that than not enough!). Have been a few times now and will definitely return. 8/10. Only thing that could have been improved was the dauphinoise potatoes - too salty.

Always excellent food. Service can be slow at times - and never had a problem-free visit (e.g. wrong item brought out, special request not noted) but always fixed on the spot. Would recommend very highly, despite my comments.
Wonderful looking pub and great decor. We were served by a delightful waitress with a gorgeous smile, food was excellent...and not your normal pub grub, and although I never usually indulge in pudding, i simply couldn't resist the delicious selection on offer. A great cheese selection was sadly just too much for me...this time! I have no hesitation in recommending this little diamond, and hope to be back very soon. Thank you all for a fantastic lunch.

Hadn't been for a while and I have to say, we'll be back a lot sooner. Service was brilliant, tables are nicely spaced and the food was gorgeous. We had Scallops & pâté to start, we shared the Cote de Boeuf (stunning) and shared a dessert. We had a glass of fizz and a really lovely bottle of Ripasso. It was great value. We'll be back soon.

A smashing venue with very welcoming & attentive staff and great food offer. Kitchen were able to accommodate my dietary requirements without fuss and did a grand job too. Well done, we will return.
Never been disappointed by the food and often surprised by something special...this time it was the black pudding fritters, they were amazing.
This pub has such great character and it's always a pleasure to visit here.
I regularly come here for the fish and chips as they consistently serve you delicious food that is tasty, piping hot and fresh.
The brownie is superb as well - rich, gooey, and with melting chocolate chunks.

Best pork roast we have had in 9 years living in England. Food was excellent, good prices, inside aesthetic very cool. Staff were really friendly but most of all, really helpful. We will absolutely be back.
The young lady who served us was brilliant, very attentive to our requests and got the order perfect. The food was delicious, especially the chocolate and cherry tart! Good options for our 3 vegetarians too. Just one small piece of feedback on the veggie curry which could do with a bit more sauce to rice ratio. Very dog friendly too with a water bowl already placed at our table ahead of arrival. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Excellent Food if you're an adult. Our food was delicious, although it did take quite a while to arrive, the pub didn't seem that busy. All the adult meals were excellent, but my daughters chicken goujons were rock hard & inedible. On another note, make sure you ask if your main course comes with vegetables, ours were not described on the menu as having veg included, so ordered extra portions of buttered veg. We were not told at any stage that our meals had veg included & felt disappointed when our mains came with veg, the extra veg was not needed & was essentially wasted (I hate food waste).
Unusually diverse menu at this delightful country pub with lots of lovely wood panelling and solid tables. Welcoming fire burning, friendly greeting. Tasty Sweet potato & coconut soup, char Sui pork and noodle soup followed by crispy beef salad and pork belly with watermelon, pak choy, snap pea salad and proper crunchy pork skin garnish. Nice amount of beef on salad. I tried the chocolate posset with pistachio ice cream and found it as good as expected. Nice meal, friendly staff, lovely pub with rear terrace and front garden tables. Good selection of cask ales and fair prices. Safe bet.
Went for Sunday Lunch with three generations of family. Although very busy, the service was faultless and the food equally so. Probably a little pricier than some other pubs, but you get what you pay for and this experience was far superior to many Sunday pub lunches.
Beautiful food, great service and a really welcoming atmosphere. I love all the signs about local spirits and spirits of the week. Dog-friendly too! Group dog walks are also advertised. Highly recommend.
Stunning pub, conveniently located just up the road from two garden centres, I recommend mooching around them and then heading for a refresher or meal at the Horse and Groom. Staff are so polite and efficient, an excellent array of drinks on draught and just a fab atmosphere. Look forward to going back again soon!
This was a lunchtime out with old friends, who had recommended this venue. The staff were helpful and friendly, without being overly intrusive. Our drinks were brought to us and placed on our table with care. Whilst we were chatting, totally unprompted, one of the staff members moved a fan so that it was pointing in our direction. They clearly had recognised that we were feeling the heat, and the cool breeze certainly helped. This was a very nice touch, which we all greatly appreciated. There was an excellent choice of starters, mains, and puddings on the menu. We all decided to have main meals and puddings. These were served in good time, and we were all impressed with the presentation and quality of the food. All in all, it was a very good experience. Hadn't been there before, but we will certainly go again.
Lovely food , recommend the Fish Pie. Lots of real ales and good friendly service. Also do great Sunday roasts. Well worth a visit.
Lovely pub on A4. Great for catch up with friends, and very obviously dog friendly. Service excellent, catered for a friend with food sensitivities well, and didn't rush us, which was appreciated. Will be going again.

Overall great experience. My partner really enjoyed the 0% Heineken option (his favourite non alcoholic beer) and the house Prosecco was great too.
Perfectly battered fish and chips. Delicious, well seasoned quiche- the best quiche I’ve had in years. A little bit of dressing on the side would be a nice touch and if I’m honest, I’m not so keen on grapes in salad.
Overall I wholeheartedly appreciate the classic pub style food/vibe. The Horse and Groom is unique and inviting. Loved the ambience, friendly service and the staff accommodating our pup. Would love to return when the interior reopens- what a beautiful pub. Thank you.

Brilliant evening on 22 June. Love the new additions to the menu too in particular the Padron peppers and the watermelon salad. Food was delicious (as always) both in taste and look, but have to say our evening was really made so lovely by the young man (Joe I believe) who was an absolute pleasure to be looked after by. Thank you for a lovely evening guys!
We had a fantastic time at the Horse and Groom. They were really accommodating of my friend and I and our two little babies. The food was delicious. I had a chicken burger and it’s the best I’ve had in a long time from a pub. They have a great selection of puddings and do this brilliant option of a half dessert with a hot drink - perfect if you fancy something sweet but are pretty full up! The service was attentive, friendly and welcoming. We just generally had a lovely time. Will be back for sure!
I came yesterday for lunch had fish and chips it was delicious crispy batter and chips also soo nice plus staff is very friendly service was also fast .
Came back today to try the Sunday roast , delicious roast beef and pork , fresh and tasty good size portion the same pleasant experience . I will come back here a for sure !!!
