A genuinely exceptional dining experience. Every dish was superb. Particularly the halibut cerviche. The wine was lovely. It's pricey but as a treat it's well worth it. The upstairs of the fish shop is nice but the decor is a touch plain, however it's a minor criticism of a great restaurant.

Noon booking, sat at kitchen bar where we could interact with enthusiastic chefs who were receiving the freshest seafood right off the dock! These guys know what they’re doing with these great local ingredients and they collaborate on the changing menu. Two types of expertly-shucked oysters, über fresh. Hand chopped halibut tartare was beautifully balanced with the smoky cream, salty eggs and lightly pickled radish - yum! Then four (only £13!) off-the-boat-wriggling langoustines, halved and grilled with garlic butter & samphire- perfect! Highlight was the seared monkfish tail on wild garlic citrusy pistou & pinto beans. A plate o roast (locally grown!) Jerusalem artichokes. Absolutely superb. All washed down with tasty local draught ales and a lovely Stellenbosch Sauvignon. These guys know their food, a gluten allergy was easy, but the experience was marred somewhat by their location. Anyone with mobility issues have to navigate steep stairs to the basement - god help you if you’re on the second floor! There are two front doors which were constantly left open by thoughtless guests and vendors, effectively blast-chilling the downstairs floor. Please don’t get me wrong - the food was totally worth it! Only the freshest local ingredients treated with total respect, in simple well-executed dishes I’d be proud to serve to a discerning clientele. I see complaints in here about pricing - ha! Portions are good and prices are 2/3 what they would be in the South. Keep it up, we’re already looking forward to our next family visit when the menu changes again! We’re still talking about this meal five hours later driving back South….

Amazing restaurant with awesome staff! Food & drinks delicious. Feels very authentic that some dishes are sometimes out and the staff is suggesting alternatives. Great idea is the concept of combining certain plates & sides - according to your wishes and the recommendation of the staff.

Quite pricey, but fish is expensive… For a fish restaurant, the savoy cabbage was the most surprising dish. Would definitely recommend it. All the fish was nice. I enjoyed the oysters, langoustines and the ceviche in particular. There is reserved seating upstairs or walk-ins downstairs. The restaurant looks newly fitted-out and the plates are really good quality. Service was a bit amateur at times. The the food is a bit expensive (I wouldn’t spend £36 on the turbot chop again) and it would be nice if they put at least one slightly cheaper wine (below £35) on the menu.

A fantastic fishy feast. Went with a friend to try the “small plates on Sunday’s” but couldn’t choose what to have. So we ordered them all between us to share. Now that was a great decision. Mind after the five dishes between us and the explosion of terrific flavour I couldn’t have eaten another thing. All washed down with a pint of ale. Nice to see Adam and his family in having some fun time too. They even had a live DJ on upstairs where we sat. Maybe not totally my thing as I like the atmosphere downstairs sitting eating at the fish counter watching Carlson the talented chef and his team cooking up a storm. Great food great staff great experience. Give it a go.

Nice spot to visit. Visit again. And again and again. I have been looking for a tartare in the UK for a long time and now we finally found a decent quality.

The food was excellent, well and freshly cooked in front of us. It included an interesting variety of ingredients that resulted in very enjoyable meals. The staff were friendly and attentive without being over the top. We would have preferred more traditional seating than being perched on bar stools with a very small area to place the main place, vegetables and our drinks. We would definitely visit again but we will book seats upstairs.

I love eating out and will travel to find the best places and this honestly was one of the best meals I've had in the past 5-years. Their mastery of seafood is impressive, the staff are incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is brilliant. Will be back again & thank you for showing me the possibilities of seafood!

Absolutely love the counter dining here. Wonderful food - superb fish - great wines and friendly service. Would be even better if you could get some of the amazing natural wines by the glass, and also dessert wines to match with the small but perfectly formed pudding list (hic). Can’t wait to come back again.

Riley’s Fish Shop was an amazing eating experience and a must try for any food lover or chef! Watching Chef Carlson was mesmerizing and his insanely creative menu selections were suburb. Got to also chat with the owners Adam and Lucy, they are wonderful people and so passionate!! Definitely give this experience a try and sit at the fish counter if you can!!

Went on a 'guest night' with guest chef from Shapes bringing pasta dishes to complement the menu. My 1st visit, impressed by the decor and service was great. Went with friends and we ordered every pasta and main to share, flavours were amazing! Even the 'Orange wine' which was a new one for us! Made for a special night, not a cheap meal out, but it never felt or tasted like one. Looking forward to an excuse to go again 😁

A lovely welcome from helpful staff. Delicious food. Great gluten free options (nearly everything on the evening menu!). A wonderful meal - highlights were the scallop ceviche - zingy & so fresh and the salt hake - moreish flavours.

Excellent food, generous portions, friendly staff. Highly recommended. The lobster and crab tagliatelle with shaved truffle in a white wine and cream sauce contained really meaty chunks of lobster and more truffle than I've ever seen on a single plate before. I planned to use the bread to mop up any remaining sauce, it was so delicious, but by the time I got to that stage I was totally satiated! Still left a fairly clean plate...

Had a cheeky lunch there on my own. OK there are much cheaper lunches but this is just so good and the people who work there so welcoming. I loved it

Absolutely awesome. Not given to making reviews on food but I just had to comment on this. Monkfish tails, roasted beetroot, and potatoes green beans, spinach pesto and the most amazing flavoursome sauce or jus, not sure on the terminology but just the most amazing food I've eaten in forever. Prepared and cooked right there in front of me, from trimming the fish to seasoning and right thru to the presentation. Thank you guys!! Ian I'll be back.😁 Party of 3 the girls had the Lobster & Crab linguini....

Lovely food, atmosphere and staff, a great evening out and a must if you like fish. We like sitting at the bar or counter but they have tables upstairs too. Only thing that was underwhelming at last visit were the mussels, afterwards realised that it's the wrong type of year for them which might be why, will stick to ordering in season.

Honestly this was one of the best meals both myself and my husband have ever had, oysters to start, then I had the monkfish tail, himself had lemon sole, paired with the best wine recommended by amazing staff. Get yourself booked in you will not be disappointed 5+ ☆. Lovely atmosphere too we could have stayed all evening
