The staff was extremely warm and friendly and lots of fun to chat with. The food was good and flavourful although the portion sizes were slightly to large for my own liking. I had the fish and chips and it was amazing. The menu wasn’t massive which I like because then I’m not conflicted between different options. I might try and win on the wings Wednesday and get the cash prize. Overall I really loved it and hope to go there again with friends.

We had a lovely Summer dinner sitting out by the play area. Our little one had a great time playing there whilst waiting for our meal. The owner &manager, Annie, went out of her way to assist us, especially with our various dietary requirements! All diets catered for! So kind. Staff were all very helpful and the food arrived very promptly. A well thought-out menu with some quirky touches. Our meals were delicious and copious and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Yummy desserts. Thank you so much. We will definitely be recommending The Piltdown Man to all our friends&family.

Came in close to closing on a Friday afternoon but they were very accommodating and still served us food so thank you chef. The food was outstanding, we had Tacos, Fried Chicken Burger, Curry and Fish & Chips, all of us thoroughly enjoyed it and we ate every last mouthful. I certainly want to come back and try some of the other menu items. They also have Camden Hells on tap, which is a nice touch. Unfortunately this was not available during my visit though.

Fantastic location and excellent vibe. Food is amazing, local fresh produce exquisitely prepared and cooked.

Sunday 30th Oct22 - Just celebrated a family 60th Wedding Anniversary with a delicious Sunday roast - our whole family attended - 24 including 3 children - absolutely fantastic food including vegan/veggie options. Very friendly service, great value - highly recommended.

Good food, average prices. Large garden with kids play area and large car park, it can be a little tricky getting in an out of as the pub is on a main road. Wheelchair ramp in the pub to access the dining area and large clean toilets with cute cacti in.

What a wonderful place to eat and drink! After a fabulous Sunday lunch a few weeks ago I took my family out for dinner and the locally sourced food was again unbelievable. The roast dinner was excellent with a large serving of fresh local produce and i had the steakzilla burger this time and was taken back by how good it was. The service is faultless and everyone is so friendly. I can't recommend this place enough and will be a frequent customer.

Nice drinks and tasty food.
This pub has great parking lots of space and easy access. There indoor and outdoor seating available.
I attend here for Ford Rs owners club sometimes so added a few photos of this.

Not sure why it's not more popular. It feels as though if more people ate here they could afford to up the service. Still if you want to eat a pretty decent roast in a quiet atmosphere this is the pub for you.

We travelled 30 miles to this pub as they are one of the rare pubs to serve Hoffmeister lager on tap. We had great service and loved the food. The Hoffmeister in tankards did not disappoint! We will definitely be back. Might stick to a mixture of small bites next time to make room for dessert!

Lovely staff Christmas dinner. We love this pub it’s is friendly and the food is amazing. Cater for my nut allergy and isn’t ’basic’ pub grub! It’s a real mix of Asian fusion and English dishes. Flavours are delicious. Would highly recommend. Annie the owner is so welcoming and friendly.

Absolutely amazing in every regard. I know this review sounds gushy but as a hospitality professional it's rare that I feel so impressed on every single thing.
This place is a foodies paradise. I wanted everything on the menu. Luckily as part of a larger group of people ordering different things I was fortunate to try a lot of them. Every single dish exceeded my expectations from the smaller tapas style starter dishes to the varied and delightful mains. The service was spectacular and ever so friendly and the decor was exquisite

The staff were so lovely and friendly, and most conscientious given that lockdown has only just started lifting for pubs. The battered fish was AMAZING, delicious and somehow buttery (in the best way). They were probably too generous with the chips!! Will definitely return.
