Called in for a coffee and ended up with cake as well. Best coffee in Ulverston and kept hot right until the lady drop. The Victoria Sponge with jam and cream was so light and the fruit and orange scone with plum jam and cream was fantastic. This is our go to place from now on. Thanks Sam and Jane.

Eclectic little cafe, really friendly service and delicious lunch. The soup and the rarebit were both lovely and the homemade limeade mouthwatering. Highly recommended.

We visited for lunch this week, expecting the “usual” cafe fare in a quirky environment.....not so ! The menu was just that bit different, they offered 3 choices of soup (my husband had the fish chowder - best he’s ever had) and I had baked sweet potato with chilli beef. Totally delicious and proper homemade food. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Ulverston

Visited today had excellent smoked fish chowder and a big chunk of rustic, fresh bread., followed by an equally delicious jam and cream scone. Jane and Sam are wonderful characters and delightful hosts. The surroundings are quirky and mostly for sale. A must visit if you are in Ulverston.

Fabulous little cafe selling all sorts of interesting bits and pieces, it was like stepping back in time. Service was lovely from Jane and Sam, they were attentive and made us laugh. Homemade lemonade and limeade are a must, I could drink it all day! Food was great value and delicious, I had a lovely bowl of smoked fish chowder & my partner had an egg mayo sandwich both were plentiful and greatly received. ‘Puddin’ was devine I can recommend the apple, damson and coconut crumble and I was quite jealous of my partners coffee creme brûlée, we then finished our lunch with a perfect espresso, probably the only one that has been hot in the north west! This may well be our new favourite cafe to visit, thank you both very much for your hospitality we look forward to our next visit. Have a merry Christmas, Debbie & Richard.

I just love visiting this little cafe when I'm up visiting. The Fish Chowder is one of the reasons I call in, followed by a freshly made lemonade. Quirky little place full of smiles. It's a small little place, and sometimes i cant get a table, but definitely worth a visit if your wandering through Ulverston. 👍

We stopped here for a light lunch and were not disappointed. The fish chowder was lovely as was the lime squash - just the right combination of sweet and tart followed by sweet toffee pudding! The owners were very friendly and the cafe has more than food to eat as it is also a shop containing a miscellany of haberdashery, clocks and hats for sale and for interest. A great place to visit and highly recommended.

We visited fourpence cafe because it was dog friendly. Needs to advertise this better. Anyway, the soup was fabulous as was the famous fresh lemonade and the welcome from Jane and Sam was so friendly and attentive. Next time we are in Ulverston we will be back

Possibly one of the most quirky places we have visited and certainly not a typical cafe but you will not be bored with all the unusual items available to peruse and buy. The food was absolutely out of this world with one of the nicest beef chilli dishes and Fish Chowders we have ever tasted. I wouldn't hesitate to come back and from listening to other customers it appears that the cafe has a lot of regulars. They don't serve Coca Cola but they make their own lemonade & Limeade and it's very refreshing.

We're back in the UK and today had a gorgeous BRUNCH at Fourpence Cafe after a walk up The Hode, Ulverston. The meal was attractive to look at but also especially tasty. Perfect potatoes with flavoursome cheese, mushroom & lentil mix and tender Asparagus marinaded unusually but perfectly (and I believe it may have been a delicate amount of the Star Anises that they also sell). Brilliant.

Sorry but okay food with dining room full of strange clutter & a dirty tablecloth on our table to eat off. Definitely a unique quirky experience, but really shouldn’t be the top rated cafe/ restaurant in Ulverston.

Stopped for lunch after a walk up the Hode. Eclectic surroundings with lots to look at, tables were quickly put together for 6 of us. A good range of options, all more interesting than your average cafe. I had a fresh salmon sandwich off the specials with lemon mayonnaise, probably the tastiest sandwich I've ever had. Nicely presented, very fresh and there was plenty of tea. Will have to return to try the puddings.

This little cafe is such a treat, we loved looking through all the curios there, it was like being transported back to our gran's house. Jane and Sam are similar to their cafe...quirky and fun! Their home made salad dressings are delicious and not expensive, I wish I'd bought a couple of bottles. Please visit, you won't be disappointed.

This little café is there to be appreciated. Full of trinkets and goods, your eyes wander to the hats and clocks that adorn the walls (as well as some items for sale). But take some time to savour the food on offer and try to resist a cake to follow!! I had the raebit with a veggie topping and wished I had more time for that cake but had to dash. Must leave more time for cake next time. And a gorgeous homemade lemonade too

I love the Fourpence Cafe, been there twice this week, Chowder was on the specials, no wonder, it was pretty special, one word for it, DELICIOUS! Had baked sweet potato with egg mayo next day, again it was delicious! The atmosphere was brilliant, very friendly, was made to feel like a local. I would definitely recommend this cafe for any time of the day. Will be back next time I'm home.
