This cafe was unusual in décor yet it gave us a traditional vibe. I ordered their fresh homemade lemonade (£2.75) and egg mayonnaise & cress sandwiches (£5.95). The food was great and the lady (I assume it was Jane the owner) was very friendly and informative about their menu telling us their specials and their sticky toffee pudding. I would definitely come back next time to try their pudding as we were full. This was the highlight of our visit to Ulverston centre. Thank you!
Stopped by for a coffee and some of their homemade lemonade. Both great and the lemonade nicely tart.
It's a quirky place with every surface and the ceiling festooned with interesting objects, all for sale.
The food looked good judging by what others were having but I'd eaten already - next time
This place is a one off,the atmosphere and design is amazing. The food is divine, I can still taste the poached salmon with lime , and sticky toffee pudding. Friendly and quirky ,I'd return again if in the area.oh and did I mention the sticky toffee pudding.😂 😁
Great little find, and a definite go-to if you're into sticky toffee pudding! Rich, delicious Toffee sauce that I would happily indulge in every day... unfortunately only in the area for holiday.
Super friendly service and the amazing surroundings kept my daughter amused the whole time. She also loved the ducks on the little mug for her milk.
Highly recommended! Paying cash is easiest (min £10 spend for card)
We're new to Ulverston, but Fourpence Cafe is definitely a gem. The place is unique and run by lovely people who made us feel very welcome. Served a veg soup & seafood chowder that the high street brands could only dream of. We'll be back for more 🙂
Delightful! First time here so not sure what to expect. Once you’ve stepped inside you’re committed. Quirky, perhaps old fashioned but, everything falls into place with a varied quality menu on table chalkboards. We had just popped in for tea and perhaps a cake. Everybody’s favourite from back in the day and more besides. On the savoury menu are some of my favourites including smoked fish chowder and homemade tomato soup served with fresh bread from the local Grange Bakery. Tea brewed in a pot and China cups. I overheard one gentleman order more freshly brewed coffee as it was the best he’d ever had. This is a shop too with all sorts of items old and new to see and try out. Jane and Sam do a fabulous job making and serving up tasty food for intrigued visitors. It’s a must try!
Lovely little place, very quirky and staff are excellent. Good luck to the lady who runs it and is having op after a long knee problem .
Visited for lunch with our puppy Chester and the soups are lovely and enjoyed our visit.
Absolutely adore this magical little cafe and shop. Coffee is the best you will find for miles. The smoked haddock soup was the best I have ever had. The puddings are astounding. In addition, the owners are an absolute delight (as are the regular customers we met). Looking forward to another visit (or 2) next time we are in the area. Best cafe in the lake district. 🥰
What a lovely little cafe 💕 food was amazing and the staff were so welcoming and friendly
