Lovely friendly welcome. Well priced food. The vegetarian halloumi burger was delicious! As was the duck. Would definitely recommend.

Went here for an end of holiday treat with the extended family. Quite a large party so we had a pre-order our food. At the time of the visit we were greeted by the manager (I think) , we were the first group in at 5.30pm The starters came out very quickly and at this point I remembered a mistake had been made with one of the requests for main course. (It was only a change of fillet steak being cooked medium rather than well) . Although this simple request was met, I was made to feel like a scolded schoolchild by the manager for making the error. It detracted from my enjoyment of the starter. Main course came and the steak was one of the best I’ve ever had Service following was excellent and without issue. The earlier bothered me enough to mention on here

Really lovely pub, cosy atmosphere and lovely food. Attentive and helpful staff with prompt service. We had the beef roasts and two childrens roasts and despite chicken not being on the menu they prepared it for one of our daughters . My husband wasn't sure if his pint was cloudy or off and it was no problem for them to replace. Good size portions and fresh and delicious!

Great recommendation. Lovely comfortable traditional pub / restaurant with wood burning stoves, comfy sofas and super restaurant area. The lunch was great with plenty of choice on the menu. The sort of place to bring friends and family for a meal.

We just happened to find this pub on a drive out, what a find. A lovely warm atmosphere, lovely inside & out, great food & lovely finishing touches to decor.

Have been a couple of times before always had a great experience. This time was a little lacking. The young girl showed us to a table which clearly was very short on space…like I wasn’t able to get to the seat never mind sit down… she just looked at me blankly when I asked her to sit else wear( there were plenty of other tables free) anyway she scuttled away to ask. When seated at a more suitable table our order was quickly taken. Had the steak mushroom and cheese pie. I think they for got the steak and added extra mushrooms instead. Disappointingly I ate my mushroom pie. We won’t be rushing back which is a shame.

First time here and it was very good. Perfect pint of Tirril Grasmere Gold. I had the steak pie which was plentiful and came with a lovely side of greens. Slightly disappointed not to have home made chips which would have made things just perfect and 5 stars for the food. Rest of the party enjoyed their food and no complaints at all. Service was good with happy staff who delt excellently with a dietary requirement from one of our party. Wait for food was as you would expect given they were bus'ish had some large tables in and we didn't order starters. Atmosphere was lovely with your standard country inn vibe and decor, with twinkle lights in the wooden beams. Overall quite impressed and will certainly be back.

Honestly this was such a lovely pub. Dog friendly, they sell dog drinks and meals too it's just a shame we weren't made aware of this on arrival. This pub has a pub section and then a slightly fancier section, as we were muddy from our walk and with our dog we chose to stay in the more pub-like area which was nice and warm, perfect after a rainy walk! I don't know where to start on the food, it's reasonably priced and was extremely tasty! I'd recommend the duck, I've never had duck before and I definitely didn't regret my choices. My partner had the venison burger with blue cheese and highly recommended this too. The dessert was just as tasty and well presented, there was lots of choice for ice cream flavours. We had the sticky toffee pudding with rum and raisin ice cream and the winter berries meringue with white chocolate and raspberry ice cream.

This place doesn’t disappoint! The food is fabulous, and cooked perfectly. Front of house staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and from what I could tell is also a very dog friendly pub. Will absolutely be returning when we are next visiting the area.
