Review The Five Arrows Restaurant - Waddesdon

WOW! Came for Sunday lunch (stayed in the hotel last month, rooms very clean and comfy). Lunch was first rate, delicious meals that are clearly well thought out and put together. What we loved is you can have a starter or instead a lighter bite from their to begin menu, perfect so we could make it to dessert without exploding! Very professional and friendly service, dare I say Michelin Star quality? Certainly not far off. A hidden gem.

Perfect, I can't think of any problems. We stayed one night and had our evening meal and breakfast there. The service from all the team was excellent (special thanks to Angus who was 'on the ball' and made our stay all the better). The food was great, and we all commented how good it was. The best place to stay if you're visiting the manor, as it's 'next door' and entrance to the grounds and manor are included.

A great place to stop in for a craft beer in the courtyard/garden or for a meal in the restaurant. We stumbled on this fantastic place recently and will definitely be returning to try the restaurant, which looks amazing! The local Boobytrap brewery beers on tap here are phenomenal and for me, worth the 30 minute drive on their own! Plenty of off-road parking and space to sit inside or outside. Good disabled access with ramps to main entrances. Well worth a visit!

We had a super lunch here a little while ago and thought the Teapas, afternoon tea looked really interesting. So, today we returned for a birthday celebration and it was absolutely wonderful. The service was perfect, the setting great and the food was amazing. Such a great change from the traditional sandwich approach to afternoon tea. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our first visit to The Five Arrows and decided to go back again with our pet dog Rosie for a further stay. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting Waddesdon Manor and the beautiful surrounding grounds. All the staff remembered us and were extremely welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. We had all our meals in their restaurant and all were presented beautifully and timely. We would certainly recommend a visit to the hotel and Waddesdon Manor, we are planning another visit in the not too distant future.

Five Arrows Sunday Roast is melt in your mouth perfection. Definitely recommend booking so you don’t miss out as it can book out! The staff are always so warm and welcoming. We always feel special when we visit and couldn’t speak more highly of Five Arrows. It’s got a great ambiance and atmosphere, sophisticated with service that is attentive yet discreet. Angus is particularly a fantastic host!

Went for Sunday lunch for our wedding anniversary. The whole meal certainly did not disappoint. The food was incredible, every aspect was delicious. The waiting staff were welcoming, friendly, chatty and very relaxed. It was busy in the restaurant but as the staff were so calm it felt really relaxed. We look forward to our next visit.

We celebrated our Anniversary here with a lovely meal. Staff were fantastic and made you feel very welcome and that nothing was too much bother. They also were superb with my 9 year old daughter. The food was absolutely delicious! I look forward to going again and would highly recommend you go to!

Great Food, fab service (REALLY GREAT!) Good rooms. Hard to fault tbh. The staff care about it, it's as simple as that. Most love locally and it matters. Just a lovely atmosphere! Thank you to Angus, Sandy and Sarah for making one night just so much fun!

Everything about our stay was excellent! Our room was lovely, dinner and breakfast were superb. Every single member of staff that we spoke to were friendly, and extremely helpful, including fitting us in to the restaurant when we were late booking. Absolutely cannot fault this establishment. Thoroughly recommend it, and can't wait to stay again!

Enjoyed a great bar lunch here after a walk in the grounds of the house. A friendly welcome and absolutely delicious food. Loved the balsamic roasted tomato soup with pesto croutons and home baked bread. Just great thank you!

Attended for Wedding Anniversary Dinner. My wife rang in advance to let them know it was a special occasion which was picked up by staff however her dairy intolerance was not. From when we arrived it was a comedy of small errors which all built up. Minor things like frozen butter, a wine menu which was actually a dinner menu, no steak knife for my steak, no bread bought to the table and then when it was it was soon taken away! The portion of the starter was tiny and dinner was interesting for me. My steak was swimming in fat grease from a steak that had probably been not allowed to rest before it was plated. My wife however had her mains bought to her and it contained dairy. She had highlighted this when ordered to the waitress and they had said they had spoken to the chef, they also checked the allergy menu in front of us. Despite them reassuring my wife it was dairy free it was not. Thankfully she was not allergic! My wife also found that the venison was cold in the middle. We did not stay for desert. We became aware the manager of the Five Arrows who had done an excellent job for over two years bringing excellence and quality to the venue had left 1 month ago. The new manager did not seem to have much experience and all the front of house staff seemed nervous or new. The main course and starter did taste nice but it was nothing special like it used to be. The staff where polite but we had four servers which seemed unusual. They all seemed nervous and uncertain though. The venue was not busy though! We used to go to the five arrows for our wedding anniversary ever since we were married there due to the high quality and excellence. It has massively gone down hill though since and we are now going to break with tradition and wish five arrows goodbye. The manager did reduce our bill but despite encouraging us to come back so they could get it right sadly as this was our wedding anniversary it was somewhat ruined. I was going to give it a 1 star but as the manager did reduce our bill and the fact the food did taste ok (but as said nothing special) I have upped this to a 2.

Been to the five arrows many times for lunch and dinner and it never fails to succeed. Amazing food and staff very pleasant. Definitely worth a visit if you have not been before.

My Wife and I enjoyed the Rothschilds afternoon tea, small criticism the sandwich fillings could have been more generous, and perhaps more cream for the scones , but still very nice, the staff were friendly and attentive. We will be back for sure. Thank you

I arrived to be greeted at the door and asked if I needed any help as I'm recovering from a broken hip. The staff were exceptional fantastic. Wasn't particularly impressed with the menu as a bit 'posh' for me but needless to say, the chef made me an omelette that was absolutely amazing. 10 out 10.

We had a meal booked at our hotel for the evening and so just stopped by for a lite bite. They had stopped serving lunch 15 minutes earlier but they were more than happy to help. We ordered a starter each and it was delicious, so much so that we almost dived into the main courses but resisted the temptation and settled for a dessert instead. Again the quality was exemplary. We were so impressed with the food, the friendly and helpful staff and the ambience that we enquired about stopping overnight when we are next in the area but sadly they do not allow dogs so that will be a non starter for us. Without doubt an excellent place to dine.

We got married at the Five Arrows Hotel in October 2015 and had the most perfect day. The atmosphere was so relaxed and intimate, and everyone had a wonderful time. The staff were great, coordinating everything subtly and efficiently. The bedrooms were all really nice, and it was good to have the whole day in one place and take over the hotel for 24 hours. I was particularly impressed that when we went back a month later for dinner, the staff remembered us and were really chatty and sweet. Would recommend to anyone!

Andrew and I recently got married at the Five Arrows (4th November) and the day could not have gone more right. The setting was lovely, the hotel was beautiful, all of the rooms were lovely, the coach house where we had the ceremony was a fantastic space, the food and drink was amazing, Sophie was a great wedding coordinator, the DJ got everyone on the floor, the staff were just great. We also got to take some beautiful photos at the manor. I would tell any couple looking for an intimate venue with character that this is the one for you! What I would say though to any couple coming here is STEER CLEAR of their ‘preferred supplier’ florist - signature flowers - unequipped and unprofessional and caused us so much unnecessary stress whilst planning our special day - but this is the only black spot on the Five Arrows so don’t let it ruin your day Thanks all!

Slow service at bar and table. Detracted from the occasion of a double birthday celebration and we’d just returned from a funeral. So you don’t want to struggle for attention. Lovely location. The half bottle of champagne increased in price by £3 from what was published on the wine list to what appeared on the bill. I noticed! Food good and well presented.

We had our wedding here on Saturday the staff , food and venue all perfect I would recommend it thank you

The room was really comfortable & the shower was sooooo good. We went downstairs for our 3 course dinner, which was simply delicious. Back to our cosy room & slept really well. Next morning downstairs for breakfast. The continental was lovely, good selection, we also had the full English, which was cooked to order. Plus fresh coffee. What more could you ask for!

The Registrars were very professional, organised and smart. The waiting staff, professional, smart and extremely organised. The ambience was intimate and warm and friendly. Food spot on and the entertainment just right. Would not hesitate in recommending this venue and staff to everyone.

We got married here back in 2011, the day was perfect staff brilliant, food amazing, and blessed with the most sunniest of days such a wonderful day. If I booked it again I wouldn't change a thing. This venue is the perfect romantic place, the guest enjoyed them selves and so did their children. Safe for kids as hired the whole hotel.
