Just love the fish chips & peas
Just passing
Found a seat, a bit squashed, order taken within 2 minutes, people I didn't know made me welcome straight off and we chatted until my food came , served by a dainty looking lass, small and gorgeous blonde, made my day, food was hot and very tasty, coffee just strong enough to make the day painless. Finished my meal paid upstairs and said my goodbye quick wink to the blonde. Hmmm now on to leeds
Lovely Chips; Friendly if Chavvy Staff. Olde England Fisheries is a long-time lunchtime favourite with Wakefield OAPs on their weekly shopping trips. Serving up hearty meals of fish, chips, bread and butter and a pot of tea for what is a relative pittance, one can see its appeal. Only complaint- the managers seem to have scoured the local area for the least classy people to work as waitresses. Friendly they are, but they can be a little too chavvy. This does not detract from the overall warmth of the place, however.
A great little traditional fish and chip restaurant in the middle of Wakefield. Delicious crisp batter as it should be on the fish and a good size portion. Left fully satisfied. Seems so difficult nowadays to find a good chippie to actually eat in. Definitely recommended and will return
Never been inside before for sit down meal. But had takeaway only once before.
Fantastic food. Cannot complain apart from the slice of bread been cut 😂😂
19th February 2022 review date so prices will change.
The gravy was great. Most chippies near where I live don’t have decent gravy yet this was nice and thick too.
Went well with the fish.
The tea hit the spot too.
All in all a Great meal would go again…
Is a clean shop.
I even tipped too.
Very tasty fish & chips. Would definitely recommend. Very attentive and friendly staff. Grandson asked if we were going to go again, even before we had finished, so that's a 👍from him 😃
Friendly staff nice food, good value for money, Cound do with a lick of paint and modernising
Excellent fish & chip meal at a sensible price and friendly service.
Made to feel welcome soon has we walked through the door. We had a sit down meal. We didn't after wait long the waitress was friendly and our food arrived not long after placing our order. The fish and chips where lovely and reasonable priced for the quality and portions. Also the cups of tea came with tea pot and large mug and extra pot of hot water to top up .highly recommended to visit i dont think you will be disappointed..me and my friends will certainly visit again in the future
This restaurant has changed hands and is now called Captain Fish
The fish served here is fantastic. Its the freshest I've tasted.
The shop is family run and all very friendly.
Very good value
Best chippy I've had in Yorkshire! Reminds me of my home town chippy on the west coast! Brill service. Would definitely recommend and come again.
Had a LOVELY fish and chips lunch today!!!! The food was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! I just wish that they had proper disabled access as there were too many stairs!!!! If that's sorted out, your disabled and elderly clients are more likely to return more regularly!!!! Still, EXCELLENT food and FANTASTIC service!!!!!
Excellent fish and chips, no grease on plate
Staff warm and friendly, definitely recommended will be returning
