Well laid out garden centre. Has a nice cafe. The selection of outdoor plants is reasonable, there are some offers on at the moment. The houseplant selection was a little disappointing, they have the usual suspects but would be nice to see some more unusual specimens.
The selection of garden furniture, tools and seeds was good although on the pricy side. As was the compost.
Large car park so easy to get in and out.

Love this garden centre. A very helpful assistant help my wife by a new coat for winter. Good quality and she can't wait for winter. Even took it to the till. Welcomed our dog. Pleased to give 5 stars

I held my son's first birthday gathering in the restaurant yesterday. When I turned up they had nothing on their records despite it being booked a month before. Despite this, Kim, the manager on day, was amazingly accommodating. She ensured the soft play area was cleaned for us and let us take the whole area. She couldn't do enough for us. All the staff were great, the food was lovely and we had a great day. I can't recommend enough.

I wasn't expecting the garden center to be so large.
The displays throughout were stunning.
There were clothing, lots of fish and accessories, Christmas decorations and more.
The soft play area was well set out for toddlers to play in.
The food was nice and the staff were friendly, helpful and informative.

The place was very helpful. They did not have any disabled trolleys so the area manager followed my wife and I around with a trolley then once we got the bigger items we wanted the lady left the trolley near the tills and then my wife had a small basket on her knees so we could have look round at other smaller items. Once we had finished and paid for everything the person on the till asked another member of staff to take everything to our car and even placed it neatly into the car what a very helpful and friendly place to buy from.

Had a great day. Plants were well cared for. Had a sale on too, which is always nice. The staff were helpful and friendly and the café served the best carvery I have had in a long time.
The Team leader, in the café, Micky ( I think), went out of his way to help the customers. Not used to seeing such kindness and thoughtfulness in this kind of setting. Seemed to want his customers to have the best possible experience. Was also supportive of the team working that day. Very impressed.

We haven't been to this garden centre for years so was pleasantly surprised how much it had changed. Plenty of lovely plants at reasonable prices. Also bought a large planter at 50% off which was ideal. Nice cafe. Really friendly staff. Will visit again.

This place has the full range of outdoor plants, indoor plants, gardening tools and fixtures, anything you can imagine that's related to gardening really. Surprisingly it also has a great range of books and toys, clothing and unique food and drink. The aquatic area has a vast range of fish for sale, some that I've never seen before. It's worth a visit just to look at the different fish in the aquariums. The staff are super helpful and friendly. The restaurant was closed due to covid restrictions, but there is a takeaway van outside. Loved this place.

I only came for the cafe - but despite me turning up only a few minutes after they opened, the service was excellent and the cooked breakfast delicious. This place is an ideal stop if you're on the M1 as it's literally a minute off jJ41 - so much nicer than motorway services.

Plenty of good quality plants at reasonable prices. Also a lovely indoor area with outdoor furniture and all the garden essentials you could wish for. After you have shopped you can also try the bright and clean cafe. Good afternoon out. Well worth a visit.

My parents-in-law and I have visited Carr Gate many, many times over the last 40-odd years, From when she first piqued my interest as a newlywed home/garden owner, teaching me how to create a garden as beautiful as hers (I'm still trying!), through having children (youngest now 34) and always being a great family/baby/child friendly place to visit (one of the first) to, now, being a wheelchair accessible/senìor friendly place with an extended (but separate) dog-friendly section to their cafe (one where you don't feel like an outcast!). This garden centre has always had a great atmosphere and cafe to match. Yes, it can be a little more expensive - but you can also pick up good, free, advice and, sometimes(?) plants with a money-back guarantee if I remember rightly. There is usually a good selection of well priced, well cared for multi-buy, seasonal plants (but yes also, sometimes oddly, very expensive) shrubs/trees, along with a, often reasonably priced, garden furniture section. There is, too, a great selection of unusual/often quirky home & giftware, where I've come across something a little bit different as a gift for that certain 'hard to buy for' someone. Generally, plants are sometimes overpriced but, usually and, more often, good value. And, over the last 40yrs years, we've kept going back because it's fairly local (nr Rothwell), it's always been (for whatever reason at the time) accessible and it fits us as a family. Well done Carr-Gate. 👏 (And, for the more cynical readers, no, I'm not being paid) oops 😅

Absolutely lovely little garden centre. Not the biggest but you’ll be hard pressed not to find what you’re after. Tools, equipment, feed, plants, toys for the kids, home decor, garden furniture and BBQ’s; the lot.
The aquatics shop inside is also well stocked, staff are really helpful and knowledgeable and so far all our fish purchased from there have come come disease free and are still alive. (Unlike fish bought from another chain near by that rhymes with Jets at Rome)
Also a lovely little cafe which is a little on the pricey side but that feels par for the course in smaller centres. Also good alternatives for folks with allergies/intolerances etc.

Hubby working near by so I popped in for a nosey.... £70+ lighter with lots of fantastic sale plants in my trolley. Loved the hungry fish! (Koi that come up with their mouths open and you can feed them).
