Review The Anchor - Walberswick

We had a lovely couple of meals here recently. The setting was lovely, and we sat out in the marquee area with our dog. The staff were wonderfully friendly, informative, and genuinely enthusiastic about their menu! Plenty of options on the menu, and the food was perfect! The drinks options were plentiful and the cocktails were interesting and different. We all ordered different dishes / beers / cocktails, so we could try as much as possible and then returned the next day to have their Fish n Chips for a late lunch. This didn't disappoint- the fish was thick, moist, and not oily. The chips were perfectly crunchy on the outside and fluffly on the inside. I can't recommend this place enough and Walberswick is a great place to visit. Thanks to all the team but especially Vivienne, Simon, Cam for making it such a memorable evening. Hope to visit again soon!

We went here for dinner with our young children. Food, atmosphere and staff were fantastic! The location was great, our waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly. We all loved it and will definitely be back!

Decent food, although the vegetarian option felt like an after thought - only one option on the dinner menu and it was quite bland. My partner enjoyed their meaty meal though. Lovely location and good service.

Looks nice beer was nice. Food wise we had sandwich type things with swordfish and hummus rolls. Was ok but not amazing trying a bit too hard maybe. The pub itself was very nice and so we're the staff. Bit weird you can order food in the marquee tent at the back but not in the garden which is three feet away from where we were sat.

What a delightful place overall. The oysters were impeccable - so fresh and good sized! The ploughman’s was decent but could have more bread. The hummus was overpriced considering the size of the portion and the stingy amount of chips. But the service was outstanding and very attentive.

Lovely pub really friendly and welcoming staff and the service is first class. Had the beetroot and goats cheese brioche absolutely delicious. Patio area has a huge gazebo which gives welcome relief from the weather really highly recommend this lovely place

Had a family dinner (14 people) at the Anchor last Friday night. Truly fantastic! Amazing food (which catered superbly for a range of food allergies), and even more amazing service - something so rare and hard to find since Covid. I’m a coeliac, and tucked into GF Adnams beer on tap (now that’s very rare!, GF battered fish and chips (again, done properly, very rare!) and a very specially made GF fried banana split (yep you guessed it, very rare!). I didn’t want to leave! Any coeliac visiting Walberswick or the surrounding area MUST go here - you will not be disappointed!! I for one will be back very soon!!! Thank you to everyone at the Anchor for making the family dinner so amazing!!

Amazing place to visit. I'm celiac so allergic to gluten, and this is by far the best GF food I have found in years. No reaction what so ever and tastes as good as the normal thing. Fish was amazing as well as all the other food served to guests. We were served fast and politely. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

Wonderful setting, great menu with delicious food, attentive service and wonderful selection of drinks. The log fire in the family room is lovely on a cold day. This is definitely one of my favourite places.

Our family had a great lunch at the Anchor. Great lunch menu, making it hard to decide what to have. The Fishcake, Halibut, Fish &Chips are all recommended. We sat in the marquee at the rear that allowed us to take our dogs. Good service from all the staff and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return.

Enjoyed a splendid lunch- we just had a starter and that was plenty! Lovely old pub very close to the beach and the sea

Love coming to this place as its a stone throw away from the sea and in a stunning village too... This pub has a lovely terrace in the garden to sit and while away the hours... Sadly not much choice for Vegans on the menu and portions are a bit smaller than they used to be.... I have been coming here for years, and will continue to do so....
