This is the best place in Walsall to go to for food and drinks. We ordered the fish and chips. It was a bit pricey. The portions were good. The food was hot and delicious. I highly recommend this location.

Been here for a pint a few times. Lovely pub, and the choice & quality of beer is always great. Finally had food here today, and was worth the wait. Just a simple burger & chips, but it all tasted great. Will definitely try more of the menu soon as I get chance. Also, the 90's grunge / britpop soundtrack on in the background was most enjoyable. Couldn't fault a thing, not that I was looking to!

One of my favorite public houses with loads of real ales always on pull. Always clean and inviting with a fresh choice of homemade cobs and also food served most days.
The staff have a good knowledge of the beers they serve and can guide you through the choice of real ales.
I would definitely recommend this venue as a fantastic place to stop and enjoy the culture.

Fantastic pub. Me and children moved here last week, always made to feel welcome when we go in. Very dog friendly pub too.
Not rated the food as we haven't tried yet

The fact that I like this and most other BCA pubs will give away my age. That and I also have a dog. The decor, food and emphasis on real ale in all their pubs is more or less on the same theme. My view is that if it's not broken, then there's no need to fix it. What sets this one apart from some of the others is the exceptional friendliness of the staff and indeed the customers.
My new local when in or around Walsall.

surprisingly spacious inside, clean and (moderately) friendly pub, situated in heart of walsall. almost a five star experience. in our case, they did not have the ales i prefer, and certain (standard) items were not available on their food menu. outdoor area has large tables (nice if you're taking friends for a quiet drink). drinks seem expensive, but probably the price you have to pay (these days) to have a quiet chat with friends. well-tended flower baskets are a nice touch. many pubs in walsall are not this "family friendly" (so 4 stars awarded).

Food is cheap but good, pub is basic but nice. I went for a cheap lunch and I was happy. We had a chicken curry of the day and a spicy chicken burger.

Great pub from the chain of Black Country ales. Lots of real ales with popular ones also. Besides meals they do bar snacks. Nice clean pub as are all the BCA houses.

Been here a couple times with my fiancé and friends. I always have just vodka so I can't comment on anything else but it's nice. I do wish they had some vegan bites to eat as sometimes we get a bit hungry. But the vibe here beats anything else.

The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The bar snacks are also yummy too. Cracking pub with traditional values.

An amazing building that is around 400 years old. The interior of the pub has some great wooden features behind the bar and wonderful old memorabilia on the walls. Around 20 handpulls that includes ales, stouts and ciders. Bar snacks available and food, although I didn't have a meal on this occasion I enjoyed a pork pie!
I was told there's live entertainment on some Saturdays, including high quality acts. When I was here on a Wednesday afternoon, there was cricket on the screen.
Will definitely return.

Lets start with the good parts. Ambience was good. Staff were friendly. Had a ploughmans and it was lovely. Huge pork pie. Slab of cheese. Ham, coleslaw, baguette, pickles. Gorgeous
Now the bad parts. There were no bad parts.
Unfortunately I was driving so couldn't sample any of the 20 handpulled ales. Gives me a reason to return.
As an out of towner, I think Walsall has a lot of bad pubs. This isn't one of them. It is a real gem.

Great pub, love to try different ales and ciders. Haven't eaten yet but menu looks great.. Traditional grey peas and bacon looks yummy.. Always have a cheeky cob tho 😁

Very enjoyable evening spent here. Huge selection of beers, ciders and spirits. Had a very nice cheese and onion cob as a bar snack. Would recommend to any beer lover.

Lovely pub with plenty of ale and stout choices.
Pork pies for £1.50 go down a treat.
Plenty of character to the place.
Most pints under £4 too.

A fantastic friendly pub. Great range of ales. They had entertainment on last night with two great guys on guitars singing quality songs.
Not eaten there yet but friends assure me the food is great too. Certainly is good value from what I have seen on the menu. My favourite pub in Walsall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you want to have a taste of traditional Black Country then this is the place for you! Great staff and guests, really nice selection of ales and ciders and a lot more, seriously tasty food!
I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Birmigham area!

Called in for the first time in years to see if they did food. They do until 3.30 on Sundays. We both had steak pie and chips. It was quite a wait but freshly cooked. The meat and pastry were lovely but the gravy had a very odd taste. A herb I think, but it would have been better without it.

Always a great night here, but NYE2017 was a little special - great beer (as usual) great band & great food.
To avoid usual queues for food, the team even brought plated sets around for each table to tuck into (& then more & hot food available with queue).
Brilliant evening - welcoming staff all with a great smile on their faces (despite the calls on them from lots of people at the bar) - to finish the year off in style.
Its been our regular for a number of years, now & this year definitely the best.
Thanks, team, for all of your efforts in making it happen
Cheers

First visit to this pub after someone recommending it for good real ale and pub grub!
Great selection of ales and something for everyone on the menu.
Richard Tavadir Rowe
great atmosphere, friendly staff, great and varied selection of real ales 5/5 would recommend :)
Michael Darth-Vader Tebbutt
Large town centre building dedicated to real ales and Belgium bottles. Staff friendly and know their beers. Food pretty good as well. Small outside area for those sunny days we sometimes get. Plenty of real ales to choose from and with new arrivals a constant. A must visit pub if your in Walsall
