Stayed here for 2 nights over New year & absolutely adored the place. The best thing about it was the staff, so friendly and went above and beyond for us (ironing my husbands shirt when the ironing board couldn’t be located - amazing!) food was to die for, absolutley delicious and so well prepared. A special mention to Lucy (do you ever stop?) so hard working and lovely and Andy - went above and beyond for us to make us feel at ease. Would highly recommend & we can’t wait to return! Thank you!!

Stayed for one night as had booked to eat at The Trout, Tadpole Bridge. Booked a superior king room which was light and airy but retained beautiful beamed features. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly booking a taxi for us to The Trout. We are definitely going to return as we wish we had stayed to eat at The Star! Breakfast was great quality with the whipped butter to die for! All in all a great place with the right combination of style, comfort and features with excellent customer service. Only downside is the parking as there is not much although we got a space, I am sure it is an issue when busy.

I stayed at the Star inn with my wife for 2 nights, as soon as we arrived the staff welcomed us as if we were family. The first evening we ate at the Star and had a lovely meal served by Hew, who was friendly and attentive. I ate the Duck terrine, followed by the slow cooked beef cheek with horseradish mash, it was lovely. My wife had Roasted beetroot with butternut squash and goats cheese mousse, followed by Sea bass, she said it was lovely. The sweets looked amazing but I honestly couldn’t fit one in, and I enjoy my food. Both mornings of our stay we had breakfast, Served by the lovely Ness, who nothing was too much trouble for, also the Chef Ewan came out and checked we enjoyed our breakfast. This couple of days was a lovely treat, would we return to The Star? absolutely!. Thank you to all the staff at The Star for making us feel so welcome.

Outstanding food and beautiful presentation with no faults at all on that side! Service by no means awful but let down in part by small gestures, no offering more drinks when clearing empty glasses… also lacking a friendly vibe. Quick meal turnaround which is great for some BUT most parties could do with 10 minutes between courses, otherwise it feels very rushed and like we were just there to eat as quickly as possible and leave.

We had the most delicious sunday roasts here as a family, all having different dishes. All were cooked to perfection and the sides were also perfect and generous in portion. Service from ness was excellent and atmosphere great. Would thoroughly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at the Star Inn! The room was very clean and cozy and a yummy breakfast. The service in the restaurant was brilliant, particularly Nes who was very attentive and great at providing recommendations. The food was excellent quality and decent portions! Would highly recommend and would love to come back.

We had a birthday dinner there last night and I can’t rate this place highly enough. The service was fantastic, the food was amazing and the quality of the newly refurbished venue is next level. If you are looking for a new place in the area, I would recommend you make it a place to go.

Mind blowing. Attentive service. Incredible food. Party of 3 wanted to share one of the starters as it looked too good to pass up but we didn’t want to spoil our main. The kitchen thoughtfully distributed it across three separate plates to avoid dividing across a table and spoiling the fine dining atmosphere. Amazing flavours and well cooked, recommended.

Went for lunch with family. Excllent food - sophisticated but full of flavour. I had some superbly cooked fish. Best meal I have eaten for some time. Staff were attentive and pleasant. Overall a refined decor - very much more than a simple country inn. Will definitely return.

This old Inn is now a top restaurant. Food and service were excellent. The meats cooked to perfection with deep rich sauce. The taste of the terrine was masked by a little bit too much salt, but this was the only issue with an otherwise flawless meal. Expect to spend £50 a head for 2 courses.

The Star was the most comfortable over night stay. We booked a suite as we had our son with us. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night sleep. Room was decorated beautifully with top end toiletries. Breakfast was excellent. High quality produce and friendly efficient serving staff. Added to the the inn is in beautiful peaceful surroundings which made for a really relaxing stay. We will be back!

Much improved w the new ownership. The restaurant has been taken over by Woodspeen ppl. We were here couple of years ago, and it was okay then. But now, it is a refined pub. I just wish they would be dog friendly.

Excellent dinner to celebrate husband's birthday. No issue delaying the table by an hour on a Friday evening. Wonderful, unobtrusive service, really really good food (the steak was excellent) and the starters and desserts were also very tasty and a good selection to cater for all tastes. Lovely, if a little quiet, atmosphere but a good vibe and happy customers. The service and food here really make The Star a very special place and we will be back!

Beautiful interior, exquisite food, decent portions. Everything I ate was well balanced and seasoned perfectly. Kids welcomed and looked after. Looking forward to returning. Hoping there’ll be bar snack options come the warmer months. And a nod to some English wine! Thanks for the lovely experience.

I don’t know where to start. Absolutely an amazing place to dine in. The building itself is carefully renovated, and the original beams have been revealed while all place has been modernised so simply and elegantly. The dishes are very authentic, craftily balance of acid and different flavours. I ate two starters, one main and two deserts and wished still had some place to test the rest of the menu! My congratulations to the chefs, and all the knowledgeable hosts of this fabulous restaurant! It ls definitely worth travelling to.

Having stopped in for a drink and chat after a walk in the area and we were greeted by a friendly member of staff. The soft lighting and calming music creates a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. Furnished to a high spec to create a classy interior while maintaining a welcoming environment. Overall a real local gem and will definitely be returning
