Lovely pub. Travelled out for a roast on Sunday and didn't disappoint. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Hadn't booked and was very busy but managed to accommodate us. Lovely roast with a selection of 3 meats and lots of different vegs and sauce options to help yourself too. Meat cuts were generous and cooked to perfection I opted for roast Beef and Turkey. I just had enough room for the home made bread and butter pudding with custard one of the numerous desserts on offer. After we finished sat and enjoyed the sunshine in the peaceful garden. Well worth a ride out from Essex thanks everybody we will definitely return sometime.
Stopped by for an impromptu late lunch / early dinner on a quiet Thursday afternoon. The food was AMAZING and service was great. Both ate off of the specials board - lamb shoulder and T-bone steak. The lamb shoulder was HUGE and delicious, partner says the T-bone was up there as one of the best steaks he’s ever had, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Gypsy tart for dessert was superb. Absolutely stunning food in a super friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Very good value for the quality of food and service! Thank you!
Our first visit to this pub but definitely not our last! The food was fantastic and the service was brilliant. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The kids loved the play area and the locals round the bar were very friendly. What more could you want from a pub?!
Our first visit to The North Pole & will definitely be returning. The pub has a welcoming atmosphere & the staff were lovely. The food was delicious, we were lucky that the Moules were available, before & after photos attached.
Good Sunday carvery with lovely desserts. Beer selection was a bit limited when we visited but they usually have more on tap. Staff were very busy but still took time for us and were super friendly.
Best calamari we've ever had. Also got prawn cocktail and mushroom and Stilton burger, all delicious! Lovely outside garden area and friendly staff. Deffo recommend and will be back, can't wait to try the Sunday carvery
I had a fabulous experience at the North pole. I've been coming over the years but not very frequently. The bar staff/ waiting staff are super friendly and welcoming. Me and my boyfriend visited on Friday night and could not fault it. The food was fresh and delicious and the service even better. I wish I remembered the name of the lovely lady who serves us. You can tell this establishment care about welcoming new customers. Would highly recommend.
The best pie I have ever tasted? YES! There is a reason why the pies are perched at the very top of the North Pole’s specials board. There is a reason why it is packed with punters. This traditional pub cares; it cares about well prepared, wholesome homemade food. It cares about its customers. You’ll smile like a cat that has got the cream when you receive the bill. Excellent value for money. If all pubs offered this experience, no one would need cook at home on the evenings.
Doesn't look like much from the outside but is wonderful and warm on the inside. Plenty of seating, a fireplace, great steak (£30 for fillet 8oz)! Quite the outdoor area via stairs downward as well as two giant slides and wooden play equipment for kids. Separate space for parties and reservations but quite low ceiling with chandeliers to dodge for tall people! Great experience, daughter loved the bubblegum ice-cream too.
Love this pub. Food is great and service with a smile. Quiz and curry night always a winner . Their bread and butter pudding is the best ever and Sunday roast not to be missed!
Nice location, parking is tight, you can be left outside struggling to park. We had carvery, it was nice and fresh, nice gravey veg, spuds however for the price you pay, they are very tight on the meat portions!! There is not alot of elbow room inside, very noisy and abit sweaty too. The garden is nice, they have done a massive amount of work out there to make it family friendly, well done on that!. The staff were all nice and friendly very helpful. Would go back probably, but would try to go when less busy.
We would like to say thank you to the staff for our lovely meal the food was outstanding, very well presented and was delicious. The staff was amazing all smiles and could not do enough for you. We will definitely be back

The staff were welcoming and attentive without being overwhelming. The food was plentiful and very well cooked. The desserts were beautiful and well presented. Not the cheapest meal, it was over £50 for 2 Sunday roasts with dessert, but the quality was worth the price. The only negatives were that we were seated in the larger room and the noise levels were high, but the smaller rooms are more quiet so we will request that next visit. Also the difficulty in parking due to the extremely small car park, and the initial meeting and greeting system where drinks are ordered as you check in, and that created a long queue outside of the building, which is uncomfortable in the cold weather and would have been unpleasant if the rain had not stopped. I would definitely recommend the North Star and go again myself.
Gluten free dinner, battered fish and chips that was absolutely fantastic.

First time visiting the North Pole. The staff were friendly and inviting. It was a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious, especially the lamb. Will definitely be going again. Highly recommend.
Had lunch here today and it was lovely..homemade chips yummy. Pie delicious really lovely relaxing place to live .

Lovely food with great service. The portions of the starters are quite small but the mains are quite substantial so there’s a good balance of food overall. Personally I prefer a slightly larger starter with a slightly smaller main, but that’s just me being fussy!
