Yellow Chilli

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the area (possibly in Wellington). Their food is well prepared and delicious. I tried the chicken sola —which is classified as a ‘starter’— and it has a full dinner’s worth of chicken, and it has a kick! The fried poppadom is so tasty and the garlic naan is GREAT. My family loves the butter chicken, especially my son who orders ‘Butter the Chicken’ off the kids menu. The only curious thing was how three people in my party ordered butter chicken and each person’s butter chicken came out in staggered order, my wife’s, then my daughter’s, and then my son’s. It was all extremely tasty, though, so no worries.

Her attentive nature is evident as she listens keenly to orders, ensuring each preference is meticulously noted. Vegan Menu! They have a full Vegan menu to pick from. Highly recommend checking them out. City Restaurant prices but tasty food. I tried their Corn Aloo Tikki Chaat and their Special Masala Chai. Neither were vegan, that was my choice. I really enjoyed the Chaat — savoury, sweet, tangy, and crispy! Highly recommend. It’s a small portion but makes a decent meal for $15!

Location of the restaurant is far away from the Wellington city in calm & peaceful kelburn. We ordered vegetarian dishes for our order. Food didn’t taste like pure authentic Indian food, we felt something was missing. but, it was doable. Service was slow, but staff was respectful to guests. Interiors of restaurant were cozy. Ample free parking was available on the streets nearby restaurant.
