Small little place, great for a checky after work drink. We didn't have food but drinks were as expected

I was looking for a feed. Went in some hotel resturant and they ignored me. My nostrils were treated to a plethora of olfactory exposures. Seemed to be dominated by folk with an American accent. Found this place. If you are after Gordon Ramsy Michelin star fodder keep walking. If you are after a place that is relaxed and serve good fodder take a seat. Seemed to be occupied by locals. It's a great place to have dinner while waiting for the traffic to ease coming from work. Service is great - friendly and attentive and food is very good. Not too crowded when we went there so it's conducive for conversations.

Thank you for the Cheese Scone recipe. My sister sent it as we live in Sydney so it was a bit far to travel for scone. Albeit totally great scones. Again thanks.

Useful bar. Good beers and drinks. Good breakfasts and coffee. Almost like a bistro in France, where it's open when you need it to be, and offers simplicity & quality, instead of trying to be something it's not.

Came for a team lunch and was not pleasantly surprised - it was definitely pleasant but far from a surprise as every time I’ve been here has been great. I opted for the smoked fish kegeree - a lovely rice dish with a perfect level of saltiness. Forgot to take a “before” photo but I think the “after” photo says it all.

Service is fantastic here. Plenty of seating and was able to get a table right away. The food was good, I had the buttermilk chicken burger with fries. The burger was tasty enough and fries were good. I've had better of both items but this was good.

The Ministry of Food is a pleasant restaurant/cafe located on The Terrace in Wellington's CBD. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and table service (although you order at the bar). The service itself was prompt, professional and friendly. The food is good and priced appropriately given the location. The decor and layout was quite pleasing. I especially liked the outdoor area which looked out over The Terrace. I went there for the burger which was part of the Wellington On Plate promotion, but I would definitely go there again to check out the rest of their food.
