Old Greenhouse Ice Cream Shop

Avoid this place like the plague! I approached the counter and immediately the staff wandered off without acknowledging me. When one of them returned, I ordered a mint chocolate scoop shake with a flake top. I was told that is a crumb top, but having never been to a Shake Shed before I didn't know the difference, why is there not an option to add a crumb top to a scoop shake? I said to the staff member that I didn't understand the options on the board and the different products, to which no help at all was given. The staff are completely unresponsive and unhelpful. When I received my $9 shake, I walked back to my car, only to find it was slightly mint flavoured milk. I'm absolutely appalled by the lack of customer service and quality, and feel totally ripped off for the money I paid for a product I didn't want. The staff are in dire need of basic training, and there were several hygiene issues we noticed while we waited for our milk! One of which being the ice cream scoops are stored in dirty water. Never again will I visit a Shake Shed, feel completely conned!

Upper Hutt branch - We used to get some good snacks here regularly, but the sudden change of ownership just messed up the choices. No more ice-cream cakes, no more fries (which I thought it was better than any other fries around the area), no more soft serves.. no more hotdogs. And the milkshakes and ice-cream seems to be of cheaper quality (possibly imported from overseas). Everything were just downgraded apart from the price.

Served a soft serve ice cream, that immediately melted all over my hand when given it and then told that they couldn’t do another one as machine not working now (so ordered another couple of single scoops for my kids). Two female servers totally disinterested and no apology, so I had to tell them I wasn’t happy and returned the soft serve. Seating area also dirty. Avoid if you can.

Out of all the Wendy's ice stores I've been to in my entire life, this is consistently the worst. The ice cream is always at that almost melted point. ALWAYS. Like by the time I've paid and walked 2 metres, it has started dripping/melted. I can't tell you how much that infuriates me. On a hot day, your lucky if it doesn't start dripping in your hands as soon as they hand it to you. Service is sub par at best, honestly, I don't know how they pass health and safety standards. The chain should really be looking into them.

We stood waiting to be served as the young lady served another person. After a few minutes they then went over to make some hot chips and a hot dog etc. My wife who is terminally ill went to some seats to wait as she was tired. After she had done that another young person came up and waited. Another server appeared came up and went straight to the young lady and asked what did she want. I interrupted her and said we were next. They both just went no she was here first. This was the first and last time we will go to this kiosk or any other of Wendy's shops. Train your staff. What should have happened was that the second person coming to serve should have asked the original serve who was the next in line.No problem. No person dying or otherwise should be treated like they don't matter.
