Mason

Very interesting boho dining experience in the depths of Newtown on a cold rainy night. Food was excellent. Just enough and the variety and creativity was fab. A great place for a cosy meal with old friends. As Elton once sang... me and you rendezvous at Mason at the end of the street. Or something similar.

Great food. Excellent selection, all super fresh ingredients and beautifully put together. Personal favourites were the kawhai with coconut and the Lonza and melon. Small but good selection of wine and craft beer. Friendly and attentive staff. It is a small restaurant and several hopeful eaters were turned away, so very wise to book in advance

Had a birthday meal recently with my wife, booked the table the same day through the site, all super easy and confirmed immediately. When we arrived we were sat at the bar, on higher stools and given menus and a quick introduction to the menu. The staff were super helpful, and described the drinks and menu. We had 2 starters and a main to share, all fantastic vegetarian food. The mozzarella, molasses and aubergine, walnut and pita bread Everyone I know who has visited utterly enjoyed the food.

We had the best gastronomical experience at Bar Mason. The food was adventurous, tasty, fresh and fabulously presented and it was fun sharing our plates of deliciousness with each other. The natural organic wine that was offered was a nice change from the usual selections when dining out. The space is not big but Matt has designed his restaurant thoughtfully and the seating is social but not cramped. Whether you are carnivore, omnivore, vegetarian or vegan the dining and drink menu has something for all palates. Thank you Matt for the great food and Nina for your friendly table service.
