WOW, WOW and WOW again. My first perfect score has finally arrived, for both service and food. We had the pleasure of going to The Waggoners set in Ayot Green near Welwyn last night to celebrate David’s Birthday. Once again we had taken advantage of the vouchers from 106 Jack FM , which allows you to pay £25 and you get £50 off your bill. The Waggoners is a refurbished 17 th century coaching Inn and is set between pretty houses and cottages around a beautiful English green. Even though it is an English pub the cuisine is French . On arrival we were greated by a lovely lady, wish I had got her name. Our table was in the second room in the restaurant, the décor is lovely and really pub like. Make sure you duck as you go through doorways as the English must have been very short in the good old days. The service from the time of our arrival was ver
Stopped here after a walk. Lovely pub, very welcoming. Good menu. We ordered Gammon (very generous wedge) egg and chips and a Roast Beef (perfectly cooked) baguette with horseradish. followed by the chocolate tart as pictured. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
We have been dining at The Wagoners for years now, and whilst I always enjoy the experience, on this occasion I felt that the menu was very limited.
The service was slow, we waited for quite some time before anyone took our order, and when they did, initially we were not able to complete our drinks because we were not given a wine menu. Other customers seemed to be known to the staff and given the menus first and water for the table!
Once we managed to order and received our meal, it was lovely and we all cleared our plates, but the experience was not as good as it used to be
Really nice pub. We had a girls U14 rugby team event in the Marquee. It was brilliant. Good food and great choice of draft and keg beers.
Will be back again soon.
Amazing food. Excellent service. Everyone loved their meals. Thank you so much
I love the food here, and the welcome is warm. When I want something well cooked, tasty and honest - and, let's face it, a bit French - this is my recommendation. Booking is advisable as there are a limited number of tables, although there are private rooms for larger parties. In summer you can eat outside, if the noise of the motorway nearby doesn't bother you (it is a constant rumble which some might find off-putting). There's a safe little children's play area with a slide, and there are lovely walks around Ayot Green and Brocket Hall golf course on the doorstep.
Lovely ambience and so delicious! Was surprised at the prices given the portion sizes - I thought it was fantastic value.
Great traditional pub with a Gallic twist. Laurent and team always give a warm welcome and the food is high quality whether you are in the bar all the restaurant.
Dog friendly in the bar area as well.
My first visit here, wonderful food, absolutely 😊 great friendly service, lovely setting.
A old fashion outlook restaurant. We had a dinner here using Groupon...
A warm service and have delicious foods
First time we’ve visited Waggoners and we’ll be back for sure. Laurent looked after us very well and we can recommend the smoked haddock starter (on the menu for 14yrs!!). Enjoy
