My wife and I had a fantastic dining experience at Brewers Fayre at Castle Lake. Kerry, our server, was incredibly attentive and polite, which set the tone for the evening. We weren't expecting much, given our previous experiences at other Brewers Fayres, but this time, the meal exceeded our expectations. My steak was cooked to perfection and easily the best we'd had at a Brewers Fayre. We were so impressed that we had to share our positive feedback with the manager, Nicola, who was equally amazing and engaged in a delightful 15-minute conversation with us. Kerry and Nicola truly exemplify outstanding service and are a credit to their company. We can't wait to return!
I visited with my family yesterday (6th Oct) and we had a great time. We were welcomed straight away and managed to get a seat in the popular play area. Our food was lovely and arrived very quickly, thank you. The man at the bar taking orders seemed to be on his own but managed to acknowledge everyone waiting well, something you don't see much anymore! The girl working in the play area was very friendly and really did a good job of trying to make sure all children were being safe when in my opinion it should have been the parents responsibility. Give her a pay rise! My only note would be there did seem to be a lot of children playing in the space? Seemed like too many to be safe to me but I am sure these things are tracked. Thank you for a nice visit. We will return soon.
The food has got more expensive but smaller portions and is no where near as filling. I used to feel it was value for money but not so much anymore. The food was nice but very small portions.
The soft play is always a bonus for those with young kids but it does shut at 7pm and there was no colouring or anything else to occupy them when closed so bring a back up option with u.
We had dinner at Castle Lake yesterday evening. We were travelling back from Disneyland and stopped at the Premier Inn to break up our journey. We were with our two children aged 8 and 6.
Our children were tired and hungry from travelling. Castle Lake was just perfect and was the best Brewers Fayre we've been to.
The staff were wonderful. They care wholeheartedly about their guests / customers and are committed to ensuring it's a safe, warm and friendly atmosphere.
There was a person at the bar who was Leary. The management did not tolerate this. The manager Vicky made sure the restaurant was safe for her staff but also our children. She made it really clear in a calm way that their behaviour wouldn't be accepted.
There was also another manager in and she wasn't happy with the behaviour. I wanted to say a big thank you to Vicky and the other manager (sadly I didn't catch her name). There was a moment where as parents we felt a bit scared but both of them handled the situation impeccably and the person left.
Both managers clearly prioritised the safety of our children and their staff (and the rest of thei customers) and we have nothing but the highest of respect for both of them.
Vicky came over to check we were ok, she apologised and explained what had happened. She spent time talking to our children about Disneyland and super heroes! Our kids think that she's amazing.
The food was beautiful. I'm sure the chips and onion rings are homemade, the food was of a really high quality.
Lovely restaurant, family friendly, very high standards and ran by an excellent leadership team.
Highly recommend Castle Lake.
Food was fine but took a very long time to arrive. Overall it was good for us as we needed somewhere to meet as a family where the kids could run around and it worked perfectly
Just met family for breakfast. Plenty out at the hot breakfast buffet, plus pastries, juice, fruit etc. Pleasant and helpful staff when you needed something, though the tables weren't cleared as you ate, so plates piled up. Decent breakfast for the price overall.
After having plenty of issues over the last six months or so with a Manager who would turn people away claiming they were fully booked for Breakfast when it was clearly less than a quarter full, It is lovely to see happier staff and Manager Lisa back.
The gentleman who was previously serving as interim manager severely damaged the reputation of the place, he was rude and unwelcoming as well as appearing to find customers an inconvenience to his daily tasks, but you can already see the difference and feel the warm welcome now.
If you haven't tried the place in the last month or so, I recommend giving it a try again.
The food was good as we got there early (just as the carvery opened), so everything was still 👌
The service was ok. I had to keep finding someone about our drinks and plates to be taken away.
The atmosphere was good. We had a table right in front of the children play area, and we were able to see what they were doing. The staff were very good at keeping an eye on the children who were coming in and out, as the stuff kept going in and out of the play area every 30 seconds. I think £3.50 per child to play in a bit off. If you have more than one child, then you're paying a lot. Regardless we had a good time and we will be coming back as the family enjoyed everything and the children had others to play with.
Excellent prices.
The sirloin steak has to be the best I've ever had!
Lovely setting.
Helpful friendly staff.
Amazing choice of foods.
Great children's soft play area. Food as expected from chain restaurant.
Toilets in play area out of order. No soap in other toilets.
