We've been dining at Alvaros since they opened 38 years ago and I've never had a disappointing meal. The choice is amazing. Their vegetables are always cooked to perfection. Their steak melts in your mouth. I love the dishes they cook at your table. My husband always has the mariscos espetada. It is a spectacular dish of prawns and scallops wrapped in bacon hanging on a skewer over your plate with garlic butter dripping from it. He loves it. I try to have different dishes fir main course but tend to have fresh asparagus with olive oil, garlic and Parmesan for my first course. The asparagus is thick, juicy and tender and just delicious. The dessert trolley is mouthwatering and their cheese board has a good variety of quality cheeses. A good selection of champagne, wines and spirits. The waiters are dressed smartly and know about the menu. It really is the best restaurant in town for me. I can't praise them enough.
Wonderful! As a restaurant should be, excellent service & very friendly & polite staff. Still has the trolley for filleting & flambaying by your table & the delicious dessert trolley. Great menu, lots of choice, out food was perfect. Cosy bar to sit & have a drink whilst deciding on the menu. Our favourite restaurant from now on, just wished we lived nearer. Thank you Alvaro’s!!

Went to Alvaros to celebrate my friend's 50th Birthday. We had a wonderful evening. As my friend said, 'Everything was perfect '. This restaurant is a gem that has endured for over forty years. The perfect place for either a celebration or a romantic evening. Whatever the occasion I'm sure you will be well looked after and not disappointed.
My parents have been regulars since Alvaro's opened and introduced me many years ago.
I've brought back several people for their first experience in recent years and all love it.
We love it for the people just as much as the food!
Only my second meal out since March 2020 this evening (and Alvaro's was only not the first as that was on a Monday). They had also been our last before it all started.
Hope to be re-visiting for many years to come.

Just first class, as it has forever been - a real and genuine restaurant, which shows up over-priced "gastro pubs" and national chain outlets as the disengenuous eating places they are.
Only the best ingredients excellently cooked into the most delicious meals. Magical and memorable! 10/10

What can I say, this is one of very few restaurants where service is still done properly. Felt welcome from start to finish. Plenty to choose from on the menu and food top notch.
