Visited during half term break. Thoroughly converted to Whitby Fatties, delicious. Great service and value, would definitely recommend.

Sandgate Coffee and Delights certainly lived up to its name. Beautiful cakes and the biggest cream tea, with the famous ‘Whitby Fatties’ scones. Baked on the premises the cakes are fresh and the scones are as warm as the welcome. Amazing highlight to our family weekend in Whitby!

A hidden jewel amongst a load of tourist tat! The Whitby Fatty, an enormous scone and I mean ENORMOUS!!! Being a greedy pig, I opted for the Fatter Fatty with was beyond belief. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even indulged my odd humour - hehehe! Give them a go.

This is the most fabulous place to visit for tea and cake. They make the most delicious Whitby Fattie. The owners are the most amazing people. See you guys again next year.

Such a tiny little cafe but the biggest of welcomes. The lovely lady owner was most helpful when i asked about accessibility for disabled patrons for a future visit with my mum. I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious freshly made cheese "Whitby Fattie" with a large mug of hot coffee on a very damp day. I look forward to sharing some "Fatties" on my next visit with my mum.

This place is tiny with only three tables so its cosy!! The customer service however is huge. Very attentive lady who offered more cream for scones if we wanted any plus top up of hot milk. Nice big fatties! (cross between a scone and a rock cake)

We visited initially to buy some Fatties and then returned later in the day for tea in the cafe. The owner was most welcoming and friendly. We chatted about the window display of knitted toys. These are sold to raise funds for the Head and Neck Cancer Department of the local hospital, a cause very close to the owners' hearts. They work very hard to raise awareness of head and neck cancers to try to help others. The cakes are delicious and the cafe is well worth a visit if only to buy a knitted toy to help their fundraising efforts.

Visited the Sandgate coffee shop whilst in Whitby in September this is the 4th year in a row and wouldn’t go anywhere else. We cannot recommend this place highly enough. This little cafe is so comfy and clean and the staff brilliant and so warm and friendly The cakes are baked on the premises and are so fresh especially the ‘Fatties’, this year I tried the Bakewell Tart which was absolutely delicious. Thank you Mark and Helen and we hope to see you again sometime next year.

Visited this cafe Sunday 26th sept. We had a cream tea with what is called a Whitby fatty it's not a scone and it was delicious. The couple who owned the cafe were really friendly and the service was good. This is only a small cafe but what it lacks in size more than makes up for in quality. Chatted to owner about his days as a miner in dinnington yorkshire can recommend this cafe to anyone.

Could not recommend this place highly enough. Friendly, kind service. Went out of their way to meet my need. Such care really warmed my heart. Thank you! Plus the coffee was the best (I happened to pop in because of another recommendation).

Just a look in the window was enough to entice us inside for coffees and a 'Fat Rascal' (sorry a "Whitby Fattie"). We were shown to a tiny little room upstairs with 3 tables, and over superb scones the Whitby Fattie we learnt the stories about the potential legal action with Betty's. Shame on you Betty's. Anyway, if you're in Whitby I don't think you'll get better. Really friendly staff, excellent service, the coffee is good and the home made eats are a delight. Ours were fresh out of the oven......fabulous! (and likely half the price of their overpriced competitor!)

With out a doubt the best customer service I have ever experienced. Also the best cream tea I have ever had by far. Excellent value for money if you don’t visit and eat you have missed out. Will defiantly visit again.

Visited here one wet afternoon whilst visiting Whitby, we spotted the Whitby Fatties in the window and didn't realise it was a café. The owner went out of her way to make us welcome and explained the history of the Whitby Fattie. Seems a famous coffee chain sell the same product under an other name, well I'm sorry Betty but you come second, yours are too sweet. If your visiting Whitby Sandgate is a must, they only have 4 tables so if they are full take one home.
