Lovely little gem. Only small seating area but the food is baked on the premises and is wonderful. The warmed 'Whitby fatties' served with the cream teas were so tasty. The lady who runs the shop was so friendly & welcoming. So glad we popped in - will definately return!

Absolutely delightful assortment of cakes and freshly baked scones here. Always the place to pop to time and time again in Whitby! Not just amazing products but personable staff too whom give it a really warm experience all round!

A lovely couple run the place, make me feel warm and bright. Scorn is the best! Definitely worth a visit for anyone who comes to Whitby.

Delightful little cafe, only 4 tables but if you can grab one it is well worth it. The Whitby fatties are amazing, staff very attentive, ensuring you have enough tea/coffee or if you need more jam or cream. You wouldn't leave feeling upset (unless there's no room). It is a shame there isn't more space available as I'm sure plenty more people would love to visit. It put a big smile on my face despite the rubbish weather.

Cafe not actually open for staff problem, but the scones we bought were very nice, a part of that I guess if the cafe will be open next time and serving the same food we bought, would be pretty nice as service and atmosphere aswell...

Grab a Cheese fattie or a Whitby fattie, both are really good. Add a mocha and climb the steps. All are rewarding in their own way together amazing. Enjoy. Love the banter and the stories a great holiday memory.

We bought two cheese scones to take-away. We warmed them up in the oven, at home, and they were absolutely delicious! The portion size was fabulous too. Yum, yum!

We've often visited this little coffee shop. It's a fabulous little place. Great cup of tea, beautiful cakes especially the Whitby fatties. This years was a little different with the pandemic. Unfortunately we were unable to sit inside. We ordered a take out instead. A Whitby fattie each with a little pot of jam, clotted cream and a little plasic knife. We were then able to have a pinic on the beach. We highly recommend the Sandgate Coffee shop. The owners are very welcoming and very friendly people. Well worth a visit.

Extremely warm and friendly service that reflects the loving care that goes into every element of this business! Lovely cakes that are worth going back for (as we do every time we visit Whitby..on more than one occasion!) and lovely friendly people! Recommended on every level! If you are in Whitby, this lovely cake/coffee shop is well worth a visit!

Just visited this Lil Gem today, recieved a lovely warm friendly welcome by the owner. Only three tables in this cosy cafe but then added a homely atmosphere, like sitting in a friend's kitchen having a cuppa and a slice of their homemade cake. Had a canny little chat with a local too. All the sweet treats are handmade on the premises, Whitby Fatties are delicious and my boys said the Chocolate Slices are scrumptious. Will definitely visit again.
