Excellent place to eat and drink, recommend ploughman’s platter with sweet chilli dressing x
The service I got yesterday was just above and beyond from Paula at the Baxtergate shop, I left it till late in the afternoon to get my shopping. They had run out of some things I needed, and Paula happily took time to find me alternatives. A very happy customer. Well done Team Baxtergate
We have visited Whitby many many times and often buy cakes and bread from the bakery. This was the first time in the tea room and it was wonderful. We had afternoon tea which was delicious - what a gem of a place
I would like to thank you for the beautiful personalised 80th birthday cake we purchased on line from you . Although we were a bit late ordering it it was delivered safely before the target date. Mum thought the decorating of the cake was amazing and the fruit cake was very tasty and moist. The only problem was she didn't want us to cut it and spoil your good work. Will not hesitate to recommend your cakes and good service. Thanks from all the family.
We stopped at your shop in Sleights today on the way home to Leeds. So glad we did!! Scones were gorgeous, my husband said the vanilla slice was the best he's ever had, the loaf of bread is delicious. It was defiantly worth the stop!
Just had day out and travled from Hull then across the Yorkshire Moors to Whitby. I remembered Tony Robinson visiting Bothams Bakery so I went to find it. I bought a French fancie and and a lemon bun. Now im back in Hull ive just had a cuppa and my french fancie they are way better than Mr kiplings hmmmm I would recomend them to everyone
Lovely quaint place with excellent service and value for money food. Can't fault anything about the place.
Lovely old world charm to bothams on skinner st , had a cafetière of coffee and cream meringue delicious as always
Stayed in Whitby a few days and gave this place a try and we were not disapointed. Fab food, everything we tried we loved!! Will be returning when we visit Whitby again in the future!
We had tea and some delicious Yorkshire brack with butter. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a whole brack to take home to Hertfordshire with me. We also had some great service - very friendly and helpful.
We called in for a cup off tea .the service was amazing the staff where also amazing. Glad to see places like this still exist. Keep up the good work

We drove across especially to go for Afternoon tea for my birthday yesterday and as always were not disappointed - atmosphere is wonderful and staff are very attentive and polite - nothing is too much bother - we always ask for crab sandwiches and add a meringue on to the cake order - Thank you it was a DELIGHT and well worth the drive from Guisborough x
A very traditional experience!
We came here for breakfast and were very impressed with how large the selection of food was. I highly recommend the fruit scones and the hot chocolate, they were delicious!
We had a lovely meal and were pleased that it was priced very fairly.
The decor was very traditional for tearooms and looks as if not much has changed in the past 50 years! Although this is not to everyone’s taste, our group really enjoyed it!
The staff were also lovely and greeted us with a big smile.
It was overall, a great experience!
Botham's is so lovely. Quite a few stairs to climb up to the tearoom but worth the effort! The tearoom is above their fabulous bakery with a vast array of cakes and luscious eats. I ordered sandwiches and delicious toasted plum bread which is out of this world. Husband had a ginormous baked potato. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere with equally lovely waitresses. Look forward to visiting Whitby and Botham's again!
Elizabeth Botham's Whitby is a bakery selling cakes, savouries, biscuits, jams, tea towels, bags and teas, coffees and hot chocolate. Good quality medium range pricing also has a cafe above that serves meals including cream teas and fortunes kippers. (it reminds me of fortmun and Mason's somehow)
We've walked past this tea room a few times, not knowing what a lovely place it was, as we only saw it as a bakery shop. You have to go upstairs to access the tea room (there's a stair lift too for anyone not able to get up them), and once up there, it's quite worthwhile. As we'd already had lunch earlier, we had tea & cake. Very nicely decorated & plenty of space between the tables. Good selection of speciality teas, coffees & cakes.
What an experience!
We had booked Afternoon Tea for 3 & one to choose off the menu. We purchased buns downstairs first then made our way up to the tearoom. From walking in to walking out we were made to feel at home. The food was delicious & the staff were lovely too.
I cannot wait to come back again
Lovely friendly cafe with great tea, coffee and cake!!
(more food options available, we were just snacking!!)
Very glad we picked here 😎👍
My favourite shop in Whitby well worth a visit. Much more than a standard bakery top quality great service huge range and large portions. Cakes divine and a filled Stotty is a meal in itself. You won't be disappointed!
Awesome array of baked goods, both sweet and savoury, at very competitive prices for such good quality. The croissants are huge, the cheese and onion pasties are super tasty and the pork pies are top notch.
Beautiful cafe, excellent service, lovely food and reasonably priced.
This Company is outstanding with it's food deliveries. I have ordered Fruit Cakes for the second time, for Birthdays and now a special one for Christmas. The fruit cake was excellent before, so I knew it would make a fabulous gift for Christmas. I recommend this Company if you are ever wanting to send for some beautiful cakes of any kind.
