Penny Hedge - Whitby - Photo album

We met a member of staff at reception who was very friendly and helpful. We had room 4 which had a wet room which was very good. The breakfast was very good. It is a very good place to stay when visiting Whitby. I would definitely recommend it as a well run lodge and adjacent bar.
Lovely place for a meal. Staff were great, food was nice, and it was fantastic to see a little non-alcoholic cocktails section on the drinks menu! Been to Whitby a few times but never been before and we're glad we tried it.
We felt very welcomed from start to the end. Polite and proffesional waitress, fantastic and freshly cooked fish & Chips. My son said it was the best burger he's ever had, it was juicy and full of flavours. Unfortunately the chicken and avocado salad was only OK. Tasted flat, way to much lettuce and
Called in looking for a parkup for the night while visiting Whitby, gave a £5 donation for a local charity and was shown where to park for the night, Had a cracking mixed grill and the wife had a steak, and apple and cherry crumble with custard dessert mmmm great service from very friendly staff, an
Welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Polite and attentive staff. Good food and drinks. Even though it wasn't really busy, had to wait quite a while for our meal, possibly because it's freshly cooked, but weren't informed that there was a long waiting time. Overall, an enjoyable experience and will pro
We used to visit quite regularly but in the last 18 months moved to Australia. While visiting family in whitby we had an evening meal at the PH. They were understaffed and had two new starters but the entire team were great! The three youngsters were efficient, friendly and helpful, the manager (lad
Great room, extractor fan didn't work, other than that it was excellent. The food was first rate, ordered the ham hock, and half a pig arrived on the table. The rest of the family loved their food, lasagne was excellent, surf and turf was cooked well, although the burger was pretty standard, nice th
Fab stay, hotel part comfortable and clean, lovely decor. All staff very friendly and welcoming, the bar is a really lovely venue clean and bright and very cosy. Lovely food both breakfast and dinner! Thank you to all the staff for making us so welcome! See you again soon!
Loved our stay here. Comfortable room, pretty basic but clean. Excellent breakfast! Good accommodation and pub grub on site, really good access to the area and Whitby is just down the road. Parking in Whitby is limited so we chose to use the Park and Ride bus service. Taxi is an option too. S
Nice pub, bright and airy feel. Friendly attentive staff. With table service. Nice food all cooked fresh. Dog friendly in an area, with blankets, treats & water on tap. Great addition. Nice outdoor area with covered seating. Small play area for kids. Would definitely return.
Arrived late Monday Night ready to check into our rooms. There was an issue with our company booking the rooms. So we decided to have food straight away while the rooms were sorted. The staff were very helpful and efficient. My colleague had the gammon and I had the pie of the day. Both meals were v
Myself hubby and two teen children went along for the first time. We all had steak and daughter had chicken burger. Service was outstanding. Couldn’t ask for a friendlier team. My steak wasn’t cooked very well and I spoke to the young waitress who took it away straight away. She was more than apolog

We were staying in the area on our family holiday and visited Penny Hedge for a Sunday roast, we were very impressed with the friendly service and excellent food. We subsequently visited for lunch later in the week and for dinner the following evening. Every time, the service has been friendly and
We have tried to visit the Penny Hedge for a meal on a number of occasions when in the area and never been successful. Managed to book a table for last night and also had a 30% voucher off our main course. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived and we were advised that there was a 30 minute w
The majority of staff were lovely only one staff member observed being rude to the family at the next table. We did get bitten in bed and the room was musty, the fan in the bathroom didn't work and the lock on the door inside the room was broken.
Nice place, helpful, friendly staff and a really good range of choices of food. Very friendly for dogs. Water and treats freely available. I would definitely recommend.
On making the booking we advised that our daughter has special needs incl autism and asked for a quieter table due to her anxieties. Upon arrival Phil greeted us and not only had he organised a quiet table to one corner but had also ensured there was a free table next to this for our daughter to use
