The Sunday roast was full of flavour. Excellent gravy and nice veg. Unfortunately my beef was a bit tough to cut through and a little bit of fat on it (personally not a fan of fat). However, this wouldn’t put me off going again as it was definitely nice food. I found the chairs a bit uncomfortable though!

Wow what a gem of a pub. My husband and I are on our last day of our holiday at a site 1.5miles away and decided to try the Hare and the Hound pub for lunch. Well worth the walk. Lauren was so lovely from get go. The food was amazing. The pub is absolutely gorgeous in side. The Toilets are tastefully designed and 100% clean. Portion sizes are exceptional. Food beautifully presented. Good choice of drinks. We will definitely be popping into the pub next year when we come back to Whitby. We purchased Steak Mushroom pie with Chips & Mushy minted Peas. My husband said it was all exceptional. I had Cheese Nacho's with added pulled pork. Best I have tasted! I did send my compliments to the chef via Lauren while dining but I would like to add a Huge Thanks on this review to the chef for producing such spectacular food. Best Wishes Chrissy and Les South Yorkshire

Came for lunch last week and it was lovely. The food was gorgeous and the outside seating area was nice. Unfortunately had to deal with people who don't know how to train their dogs to not go mental at other dogs but such is life 🙄 would definitely come back, especially as it's just off the cinder track which is a nice walk from where we normally stay. The pulled ham and honey mustard mayo sandwich was phenomenal!

Found this lovely pub on the way to a dog friendly beach in Whitby. To our delight, a notice said the Hare & Hounds was ‘dog friendly’ so we stopped. We, 2 adults & 1 child, ordered meals and ate them outside. The friendly staff and customers told us where to find Sandsend. The large meals were a great price & tasty too. Would love to go back.

Had Sunday roast here and would definitely come again. Really good, well-chosen set of veg accompaniments - cauliflower cheese, lovely sweet red cabbage, broccoli florets (still with a bit of bite to them - perfectly done) and a gorgeous swede mash. Home-made Yorkshire puddings were fabulous. Decent wine list - reasonable prices. No room for pudding, but there was a really enticing selection. Worth noting that they do prefer cash payment, but are happy to accept cards. Lovely meal!

Very nice pub with food, clean, warm and plenty of parking. Quick drive from Whitby on the way to Robin Hood’s Bay, so if you want to escape the craziness of the tourists this is a good alternative. Pie was good but didn’t enjoy the veggies they were a bit overcooked and flavourless. Would return for sure.

A really friendly little pub. I went in with my parents for lunch today and was greeted by really friendly staff and served excellent food. The steak, mushroom and ale pie was genuinely one of the best I’ve ever had and has left me full up hours later. Highly recommend and will visit again.

Visited yesterday early evening with my wife. Friendly welcome and drinks order taken straight away. We had the sirloin steak and blue cheese sauce together with a chicken dish. Both were excellent and substantial servings. Excellent service throughout and would not hesitate to recommend the food.
